when I click on the PFD, it does not expand for better viewing

I were to buy the PMDG 747-8 Expansion Package would I have the same issue?

Are you referring to the Captain's side PFD? This is an option you can enable or disable. Apparently it caused problems for some users and PMDG made its availability an option to be selected on the FMC.

All of our aircraft have this protection in P3D.

You can disable this protection in the PMDG SETUP menu, if you'd like.

Thanks..via the FMC SETUP menu I have the Captains PFD enabled for pop up.
