2019 RTWR Initial Practice Thread

Recommended Posts

No.. It is not like riding a bike.
More like falling off of one.
Post your practice flights here, no particular route as of yet.
Fly what you like, route as wanted.
Concentrate on posting procedures.

Baton free at CYTZ Billy Bishop..
A little lesson.. Never go browsing the internet while duenna is active! Over Peoria, IL I was just browsing around and then looked at the GPS on the other screen - gyro spinning wildly! FS didn't have focus, no sound. Fuel good, and selected good. Turned out to be carb heat - caught myself in icing conditions in this polar (grrrr cold!) vortex, falling straight down in a "flattish" spin at over 6,000 fpm!

I have the baton, KMSP to KHSP, in the Section8 F-86 Sabre, FSRealWXPro (newest Duenna, "dash" 130)
KHSP = Ingalls Field in Hot Springs, VA... Wishful thinking? I can bet it is frozen 😉

That sucked... Ran out of fuel 1.5 nm from runway ILS 25. 😞 Enroute decided to do a long descent as the winds favored it. The engine is a thirsty devil at lower levels and well, parts are littered all over the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest. Will give this one a retry with the morning coffee --- OUT! hehe

Baton is free at KHCS

I didn't post docs for two reasons:

1.) didn't have "flight tracking" enabled, so I got nothing I could link to for a post on the forum; 2.) see below

Flight Errors:
Date / Time(UTC);       Latitude;               Longitude;               Altitude;   GS;     ERROR / WARNING
2019-02-01 03:38:33; N35° 39' 13.584"; W079° 53' 42.616";    678.5;   146.8; (No Error) Aircraft flying state changed [ON GROUND: False, STALL: False, G-FORCE: 1.01, VS: 5.4]
2019-02-01 03:58:56; N33° 12' 43.627"; W080° 03' 03.406"; 16,955.4;   498.0; 90 Second Overspeed Limit Exceeded
2019-02-01 04:02:36; N32° 54' 36.097"; W080° 02' 45.115";     50.4;   109.0; (No Error) Aircraft flying state changed [ON GROUND: True, STALL: False, G-FORCE: 1.97, VS: -254.5]

Error is reported as a ground speed limit? Hardly seems a realistic metric, as GS has no direct effect on aircraft physics. I see in the log that airspeed hit M.842, and on a reflight it peaked at M.84 with no error, so maybe it's M# that's critical?

Appears as though Duenna has no facility to validate real-world weather...is weather a variable that we are leaving it up to the pilot to declare weather engine, and then on good faith, accept that it is actually being used? FWIW it makes no never-mind to me, as I'll be using AS4, and it will be set to current date and time for my flights.
