The key will be if they can get solid state batteries to the market without the big battery makers trying to buy them out just so they can dump their unused and crummy designed obsolescence Li-IO batteries on us.  The movie "Chain Reaction" if you have not seen it is very prophetic about the way competition tries to smother and stifle threatening new ideas, especially if they work.  Look how long it has taken LED lightbulbs to work and get into the market.  The first ones were dim, cheap and unreliable.  Now I use them throughout my apartment, I bought them cheaply, and my cooling requirements have gone way down.  My LED regular kitchen lightbulb cost me a few bucks, puts out no heat, I can touch it even if it has been on for hours, and it can stay on all day.  It does not have the headache inducing flicker that fluorescent bulbs caused me in the workplace, I complained about those as someone who is prone to migraines and seizures under ADA and my employers did nothing about them, so in my office I replaced all my fluorescent bulbs with non flickering bulbs.  All bulbs flicker but at the right frequency, the easier they are on the people around them.  Finally for electric aircraft to work, not only do the batteries need improvement, but the efficiency of the peripherals--i.e. engine, avionics, servos and lighting.
