Last digit missing in controller text

Recommended Posts

Ray,

First of all: many thanks for your time spended for my case!!
Just one little question: where should 'showtext' be installed , on PC or on laptop.
Means   PC  with fsx and rc4    and Laptop with fscommander, widefs and showtext??

Have a good time

Ruedi

Ruedi,

You appear to be running RC4 on your FSX PC at present. Uninstall and reinstall on your laptop. You will need some space for ShowText of course but it does allow you to choose the size, font and colours.

If you continue to run it on your FSX PC you won't be able to use ShowText and will have to put up with the Simconnect window.

You can get ShowText here. https://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/

Hello Ray,

Heureka 😀, it works.

First step
I have reinstalled RC on laptop and get the following message:

35128931qd.jpg

I have ignored this message and tried again to use rcv4x:

Start RC and load flightplan (laptop) > start fsx and load flightplan and start it > and then start rcv4x and now I hear the controllers voice from my laptop.  That was the first step and it works.
But after start 'showtext' on laptop, this error occurs:

35128932gs.jpg

But if I use 'showtext' running on pc (!) it works without any problems.

Result: fsx and showtext on pc and rcv4x on laptop. It seems to be solved.
Or what do you think about?

Thank you
Ruedi

Ruedi,

No need to run ShowText on FSX PC. Only run it on laptop.

Does the laptop have full control of the folder containing your main FSX folder? It needs it in order to create.rcd files.

Have you run DB Update on RC4 and when asked if this is a WideFS setup replied Yes and entered the path to the main FSX folder? It should be something like \\flyingpc\fsx. Don’t forget to share that folder on your network.

Makerwys.exe needs running on FSX PC of course.

When you run WideClient.exe on laptop does it connect to FSX PC?

Steve,

That message was caused by RC4 trying to install an ancient version of FSUIPC when FSX doesn't exist on that computer. It can be ignored.

As long as WideServer & Wideclient are up to date and suitable permissions are granted that should be all that's needed.

Hi,

Some test made: widefs (laptop) connect to PC as soon the flight on fsx was started, thats fine.

BUT I didn't find any simconnect.dll file on pc and laptop. I was searching for more info about simconnect, but no success yet.

Tomorrow I will check (again) the version of widefs.

You can search for SimConnect in "C:\Windows\WinSxS". It's more than a dll file, the setup of simconnect makes system settings so that the correct version is found by an application automatically. A .NET application may provide a custom dll in the path of the app.

If you have a successful WideFS connection what does the RC menu look like in ShowText?

You can disable simconnect messages from appearing in your FS window by editing FSUIPC4.ini.

Steve, I found this file on my pc.

and in fsuipc.ini there is this line:

WideLuaGlobals=Yes
ConsoleWindow=208,82,876,1245
FSVersionUsed="Microsoft Flight Simulator X",10.0.61637.0
SimConnectUsed=10.0.61259.0

35153530ve.jpg

widefs on, rc on, fplan loaded in fr

35153532rt.jpg

After start flight on fsx and start rcv4

35153531jk.jpg

As soon I press '1-CLR' on fsx this error occurs. AFTER ack the messages with 'ok', rcv4 stop

35153533ke.jpg

end of operation

That's it for the moment. No idea what could be wrong....

It looks like the simconnect system is set up correctly. It seems the error is from communication with FSUIPC. Did you check for the latest or perhaps, most compatible version of FSUIPC with them?

Run-time error 70 is a permissions issue. I asked you previously if you had granted Full Control to both the folder containing your flight plans and also the parent FSX folder. RC is trying to write data and it can't.

Have you shared both folders on your network?

If you have then from your laptop locate each folder via the Network and see if you can create a new text file, type something into it and then save it. if you can then permissions are fine.

Ray: I created and saved text file as you recommended, from NB(laptop) to PC and viceversa.
eg:  NB\text1.txt to PC\FSX, or PC\FlightSimulator etc.and then from PC to NB.
No error!!
And I checked the access for all the directories, set to 'everyone' to read/write.

But as soon showtext is active and receice an input from FSX, error 70 occurs.

Could you explain me  " Have you shared both folders on your network? " Do you means connect or somethings others?
Where does rcv4 send file for saving, and showtext as well?
I will try to find out.

That report looks OK. Since those txt files can be saved by your login, that suggests no problems there.

Is there anything you can think of Ray? I would have to set up RC4 like this and don't have the time at the moment.
