GNS430 Addition (resolved)

Recommended Posts

I purchased the GNS530 about a month ago.  It has been working great.  I just purchased the GNS430 and now I am having a problem.  Most functions work on the 430/530 however when I press the NAV frequency swap it seems to be fighting the change.  Sometimes it swaps frequencies ok.  Other times I have to press the button several times to get it to lock in.  See below for link to video of this issue:

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Thanks,

Greg

Probably a config file issue.  I'm not at my windows PC though.  Anything unusual in your ini file?

Ok,

Before I installed the 430 I backed up my XPlane11 folder.  I just restored my XPlane11 folder (only the 530 is installed) and started X Plane.  I tested the 530 GPS and all works again!.  I closed X Plane and ran the 'rxpGNS2-XPL-Setup.exe' application to install the 430 GPS.  The installer finished and I started X Plane.  With no changes to any ini files and the 430 not selected in the PlugIn the 530 NAV swap button is buggy again.  I also just noticed that after pressing the 530 COM swap a few times both the Active and Standby frequencies are the same??.  I verified the 430 in the plugin is turned off and the default simulator 430 is displayed in the 3D panel.  How do I figure out what is causing this issue?

Thanks,

Greg

Ok,

I got this resolved.  Apparently in the default 430_2 ini configuration the COM and NAV is set to AUTO.  This does not work.  Since the 430 is the second GPS in the aircraft I manually changed the COM and NAV to 2.  See below in BOLD:

Hi,

I'm glad you've found a solution nevertheless I'd like to find the root cause.

In effect, when set to 'Auto' all the settings you've manually edited are supposedly set to the value '0' and since it is the #2 GNS, they get replaced when the ini file loads to '2' internally?!?!?!

All,

I just updated RealityXP and this issue came back.  Now if I try the above fix, it doesn't work!!  When I click a freq button on either 430 or 530 it doesn't toggle every time  Like its fighting another device controlling this button.

Any suggestions on how to fix??

Greg

To rule out a bad install, I decided to completely uninstalled all add-ons and deleted the X-Plane 11 folder.  I re-downloaded X-Plane.  I downloaded the GNS430 & GNS530 (I own both) plug in's and installed per the user manual.  When X Plane starts I see the plugin "Reality XP GNS".

For GNS1 I selected GNS 530 1.
For GNS2 I selected GNS 430 2.

I tested both the Reality 430 & 530 and the frequency toggle switch works great.

I then went into the advanced tab for both and checked "Use Simulator GPS Commands".  I use this as I will be using RealSimGear GNS530 to control the Reality 530 GPS.  After I enable this feature the toggle of the frequency issue is evident.  Once I get this working I will be using the Reality manual to put the 530 & 430 in the instrument 3D stack by modifing the RealityXP.GNS configuration file.

Can someone please let me know how to resolve this issue?

Thanks.

Greg M..

Hi,

There is a bug in the latest version with this option we've identified yesterday. When this option is disabled you can no longer use the GPS commands for the default GPS. Hopefully we've got the time to fix it for the update we're planning on releasing today.

I noticed a new version of the plugin is available.  I downloaded an it seems to have fixed my issue.  I will do some testing to verify operation.

Thanks,

Greg M.
