Black Screen after hard disk failure (resolved)

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I had a hard disk failure a few days ago (it was Windows 7/X-Plane 11). I've reinstalled the GTN 750/650 with no problems. I can run the Garmin trainer in Windows 10 but  unfortunately, in X-Plane 11 I'm getting only black screen with Garmin bezels. Any hints how to make it work properly?

Hi

Can you confirm you've reinstalled with the e-commerce installers to re-authenticate the license?

Can you otherwise post the content of the RXP log files (see RXP manuals for file/path)?

Yes I've reinstalled with e-commerce and re-authenticated the license.

It's the rxpGTN.xpl.log content from Windows 10 Documents folder:

19/02/12 21:10:12.964 01760 -    ] # win.xpl version 2.5.12.0
19/02/12 21:10:12.964 01760 INFO ]

It's the rxpGtnSim.dll.xpl.log

19/02/12 21:10:15.030 01760 -    ] # rxpGtnSim64.dll version 2.5.12.0

Andrzej

I did try to launch the GTNsimulator.exe by hand, it shows error 2 and 5.

Here I can see the problems from the Security and Maintenence window:

Any idea what went wrong?

GTN was working fine before I've upgraded WIn7 to Win10.

Andrzej

Hi,

Thank you for the additional screenshots, this helps.

- Have you reinstalled the garmin trainer or just copied a backup back?

- Did you install the trainer as-admin? If so uninstall and reinstall normally.

- Do you run XP11 as-admin? if so don't.

- Can you please detail the difference between these two:

NB: the 'as-admin' related questions have been detailed in several other posts in this forum, but TL;DR: this prevents the application running as intended. as-admin only purpose is when you need to run 'admin' application changing the system, normal applications don't have any need for running as-admin otherwise Windows redirects/shims a number of path to files and registry and makes these apps fail.
