Possible new PC your thoughts please.

Recommended Posts

Any feedback would be good.

I do not have 4k. So 1920x1080. So I feel I don't need the huge expense of an RTX2080-2080Ti to run P3D @ 1080.

I'm dithering over a new PC too David.  It might be worth having a look at PC Specialist, I just built an almost identical PC to the one in your link and it came to £1,853.....albeit with a more basic case, but the same spec CPU, GPU, MOBO, RAM, drives etc.

I still can't get past the 9900 v 9700 option though 😂

Oh, and they'll pre-overclock it for you too.

I've just spoken to overclockers and said CPU overclock is key so they suggested a custom build with a 9700 @5

I will have a look at PC Specialist thank you Paul. Its the cost of them ATM

EDIT: Just spec'ed the same without an overclock option it was the same price.

I'm just not enthusiastic about building and overclocking myself.  What I like about using PC Specialist is that the website allows for you to configure just about every part and they simply work right out the box; this'll be my 4th from them.  The only questions are really, what parts and that's where this forum comes in handy.

Yes, and still can't be found.  Much like 1080ti becoming almost mythical now as well.

Even though it's a bot of a thread hi-jack, what's the advantage of m2 over ssd?  One of a few nagging (and stupid) questions in my mind.

Luckily I bought mine as soon as it was announced. Was then a future-proofing buy, expensive as it was.

Somebody had once answered this, but not quite sure where I saw it. If I come across it again, will link.

Yes it was a typo. It is the i7 8086K and they are still available:

its seems that the odds of getting 5.3 to 5.4 with this CPU are pretty good.

That's the USA also am not building a PC myself. I need a PC to come with an overclock and with a guarantee on it. Overclockers do just that.

As above Rick am not building a PC and no way am overclocking one myself. Plug and play for me 🙂 P3D is enough work in itself without worrying about the PC.

3500mb read/write over my current SSD =450 Read.

Faster loading and if P3D calls for anything of the SSD is not going to wait long 🙂 When I went from a "normal" HD to an SSD I could see the difference within P3D.

I would go for 2, one for windows one for P3D

Nice, David. If it was me, personally, I would not accept anything with the name Gigabyte affixed to it, be it a MoBo or a GPU. After the fiasco I had with them returning a fully-boxed GPU bought in LA, and returning to their Ca. RTS address as per their RTS Warranty instructions, only to get the same faulty GPU sans the original box back, instead a black common or garden unmarked unbranded box, I swore, there was nothing in this world that would ever make me buy their products again.
