Placing 3DS Max scenery in Prepar3d

Recommended Posts

I used to do a lot of scenery in FS9, but stopped for FSX and Prepar3d.  Now I have created scenery for my VA that I would like to place in FSX/P3D.   Is there anyone who can point me to a good tutorial, or would be willing to meet me on Discord or online somewhere where we could discuss it?

Thank you.

since fs9 things as change on a small detail.

First you need the sdk of fsx you can find on gold release or a friend 😂

The sdk brings proper shader for fsx so you must use it on material panel.

You need to create the x file from max using the sdk plugin then create the mdl and final the bgl.

So on the folder of the plugin open cmd

XTOMDL NAME.X  /XMLSAMPLE

you will get and name.mdl and name.xml

on the xml  write latitude an longitude

then

BGLCOMP   NAME.XML

then you will have the bgl to place on scenery folder .

On fsdeveloper there is a  tool call MCX that can do all the work for you.

If you need help just pm me!

have fun

One of these days I want to get back into this.  I played with 3DSMax with P3Dv3 a while back and had fun... started with long cylinders with alternating red and white texturing then moved up to a cube with numbers on each face so I could play with positioning.  Then I wanted to create a resemblance of the terminal at my home base and I got frustrated with my slow pace of learning and moved onto something else.  I admire anyone that can create complex models.
