P3D4.4 and UTLive help

Recommended Posts

(copied from my post in the UTLive support Forum, but hoping I'll get more suggestions and a fix from here)

OK, so I've had a ton of issues with UTLive since I updated P3D to 4.4 (not blaming P3D or UTL, but something happened when I upgraded). Here's the short version of whats been going on, then I'll get to my findings as for where I am in testing right now and HOPEFULLY someone will know whats happening so I can get this issue resolved. Prior to updating P3D from 4.3 to 4.4, I had 0 issues with UTLive and all my assignments were showing up perfectly.

Short version: Upgraded P3D from 4.3 to 4.4 and UTLive from 1.1 to 1.2. At that time I had a few issues which caused me to have to do a full uninstall and reinstall of P3D and ALL addons. After reinstalling UTLive, I changed the repaints.xml to the backup I made just before updating UTLive to 1.2 (I have over 1000 repaints assigned) but then hardly any traffic would appear (only a very small amount of the default Daedalus would show). Deleting my repaints.xml and allowing UTLive to make a new default one would show the airports full of traffic again. I thought the issue was my backup of the repaints so using the default, I spent hours reassigning over 500 aircraft and I went to do a flight and the airports were empty again.

What I've found out: I thought maybe the issue was that there was a bad assignment like I had not made the % in the assignment equal to 100% in one of the aircraft so I checked them all and they were all correct. I then thought maybe it was an aircraft that was no longer compatible somehow that was causing the entire repaints.xml to become corrupt. So, I deleted the repaints.xml and yet again allowed UTL to make a new one. I started P3D and set my location to OMDB and the airport was full again and I made sure to check the Emirates A380 was showing and it was as the UTLive repaint and model. I closed P3D and opened UTLive program and this time, I selected Emirates Airlines, selected the A380, and reassigned ONLY that aircraft to my A380 (TFS model updated for P3D 4) and saved. I restarted P3D and set to start at OMDB and launched. To my surprise, the airport still looked pretty full, but then I noticed there was not 1 single Emirates A380.

So it seems that every aircraft I assign a paint to does not show up in the simulator. This leads me to believe this may be a settings issue or a path issue, so if someone can point me in the right direction?

Please let me know if there is any other setting or CFG that I should check. Thanks.

I MAY have found a fix or a work around, and may also help figure out whats going on ... I found that if I copied all my AI aircraft into the UTLive AI Aircraft folder and then assigned the Emirates A380, the updated model shows up as it should. I'll need to copy the slightly updated repaints.xml back into UTLive and test again to see if the aircraft all show (that's a quick easy test)

So that leaves me with 2 questions:

1) I've never had my AI aircraft in the UTLive folder, but is that where UTLive wants them now? Here is a portion of a well known and well used guide to adding AI traffic to UTLive http://prntscr.com/mvg8tt as you can see, the author has the AI aircraft in a separate folder outside of the UTLive install folder, which is the same as I had done in previous versions of P3D and UTLive without any issues

2)Does P3D4.4 no longer see more than 1 folder for AI in SimObjects despite having different names and file paths?

I do not recall seeing anywhere or was ever advised by anyone thru any issues I've been having with AI traffic that either of the 2 questions above are factual or have been implimented, but then why do the aircraft show up when in the UTLive install folder but not when mapped to an additional folder?

These are all my updated models/assignments showing properly after the "fix" in post 2!! 😃 ... I know they are all mine because it doesn't say "pax" or "Airbus A320 100/200" in the traffic list. I'm very picky about my naming for organization reasons. I also selected an active aircraft and the manufacture was not listed at "Ultimate Traffic Live" but as the corrected/updated model for my AI (Notice Boeing is listed as the Manufacture in the 2nd screenshot)

I really don't understand this entire situation, but at least now it is fixed ... a good read for anyone else who may be having the same issue, although I haven't come across anything like this in any forum or google search
