"Starting" but no screen (resolved)

Recommended Posts

I had the GTN 750 working just fine, now all of the sudden any aircraft I have the GTN installed in just has a blank screen (although it is "lit up") so I can tell that avionics power IS on. Also there is a message in bottom left of the screen that says "starting". Checked the manual and that the gtn file is set to nvidia processer and it is. Like said, it was working just fine now it isn't.

I fired up the trainer and no databases were found? So uninstalled the trainer, currently re-installing. Will post if this fixes it.

I get this occasionally. I just turn off the avionics switch then back on.

Thank you - tried that but no luck. What is strange now is that I uninstalled and reinstalled the trainer because when starting that up on its own it states that no databases were found? Now reinstalled and still getting that message. This thing is SO finicky!

Was about to pull the trigger and get the 650, but now I have cold feet!

This may not be the issue but one of the 3 DLL's is a different version. Have you reinstalled the Reality XP GTN 750 installer? http://files.100megabyte.com/realityxp/rxpGTN-750-FSIM.exe
Also check the gauge configuration panel and try different power source options.

Gather some info for Jean-Luc.
What OS? What sim are you running and version?
Also anything change regarding your anti virus?

BTW your log info matches mine so no issue there.

Windows 10

P3DV4.4

Nothing changed on the anti-virus that I am aware of... GTN was working fine this morning then poof. It seems like the timeline was that I did download the F1 installer for reality xp GTN 650 because I was going to purchase it, but do not think I ever opened the installer. Te browser was having fits about a false positive on the GTN 650 installer download though.

Glad to hear the log matches. Say, when you open the actual garmin trainer, are the databases found? On mine, no databases are found.

Here's mine. I assume you are running the latest trainer?

Interesting from log file after changing the GTN to log=1

19/03/10 03:32:13.781 04464 INFO ] GTN: 01 ..\..\src\krnl\krnl_lib\sim\hwm_nand_drvr_sim.c(827) (null)

Also note that I've already tried to uninstall and re-install the trainer... no luck on getting a database to show up!

Also here is my trainer database:

Reinstalled the trainer and just let it install to the default location (C Drive) but not much room on there. So got the trainer working the databases are now found yay but the aircraft still has a blank gray screen saying "starting". I don't understand how it worked fine before then this. Oh well nobody's issue but mine. Tried many of the ideas in the posts suggested and read the manual over and over but this obviously is all too confusing to me.

RESOLVED:

It's a new day so I decided to go back to the thread below. Happy to report that after right clicking and adding full read/write permissions to all folders involved (program data/realityxp and program data/garmin as well as program filed 86/garmin and program files/reality xp, the gauge is now working and loads correctly.

Hopefully this helps some other soul that finds themselves in this bad place.

Funny thing is, I made NO changes yesterday morning that I'm aware of, unless some windows update happened or something but I do not recall anything!

Hi,

The GTN_menu version number is normal for this release, the next one will have same numbers. I understand this might be confusing.

Usually the error happens when you install the Garmin trainer or the RXP GTN as-admin, or conversely, when you install normally but run the sim as-admin. In these cases, the Windows file path/registry keys are redirected and shimmed which breaks all things apart.

More generally, never ever run nor install anything as admin except when it is indeed an admin tool/app. Any vendor asking you to run/install as admin any sim add-on should be avoided: UAC has been there for nearly a decade, enough time for vendors to adjust.
