Registration required to view new PMDG forums?

Recommended Posts

Do you need to register just to view the new PMDG forums? When I go to the home page on the forum website it says "No forums found". It says I may have to register to post but nothing about viewing. The FAQ page appears to be just a generic page for the forum software and not specific to any PMDG policies.

Yep. I think it might just be a carryover from all of the forum being private since we were running our Beta discussions in there before allowing customers in general in there...but it might be that they wanted to keep it that way (I'm unsure - I'm a mod, but my primary task is dev now).

All the same, it's a simple registration - no proof of purchase, or additional information than you'd need to join up here.

Thanks for the response Kyle. I went back to the PMDG forum website and clicked on the register link. The first and only data it asked for before allowing me to go to another page was my birthdate. I'm sorry, but that is personal identifiable data that I do not share except with financial institutions and healthcare facilities.

Up to you, I suppose, but I think most sites don't let you register unless you're at least 13 years old. I'm guessing that's mostly where that comes into play.

Hi Ted, Unless the forum's under the hood system has access to your 'real' birth records, and if nominating your birth date is an issue to you,  become 21 again.

I thought about that but being that PMDG required real names in their forum at Avsim I did not think that would be looked on too kindly. I could not find a terms and conditions page so I appreciate you mentioning this.

Geoff and Kevin, I'm feeling longer already

Thanks,

Ted

You actually have to have your first and last name showing in your posts at the new forum as well, so you won’t be able to get by using Ted Striker there either.
