Exporting Fplan to GTN 750 XP11 (resolved)

Recommended Posts

Apoligies for this topic, ive read the manual till i'm blue in the face, especially page 9 but i'm no further forward in getting flight plans to show up from Pilot2atc. Can someone please give me a definite location that I send the flight plans too. I've created FPLN folder and placed it in a GTNNAVDATA folder that I also created within the program data, garmin, trainers, as per the instructions on page 9 of the manual. Am I doing something wrong.

To be honest the instructions are as clear as mud to me. If it only said put FPLN folder in such and such a place it would be ok but there are all sorts of different locations. I have the latest software for trainer and rxp gtn 750/650 installed.

I've also searched the forums including the links given by Jean Luc but it makes no difference. Another is I've never seen any import button in the catalog page, should there be one ???? I've left a post on the Pilot2atc forum as well as i'm aware there could be a problem with the format.

Sorry for being a bit thick but I need help.

Thanks Grant.

I think that when you are on the catalogue page you need to press menu again and then the import button shows up.

Hi, make sure the folder is named "FPLN" and not anything else.

The reference to 'GNTNAVDATA' is further explained in the page notes: "See Configuring Alternate Paths chapter for more information"

Hi Jean Luc, i read about the GTNAVDATA and the alternate paths, it mentions that GTNAVDATA is a folder and obviously there isnt such a folder so i created one and put the FPLN folder within it. This is what has been causing me confusion as the alternate paths says GTNAVDATA = etc, etc and makes no mention of there being such a folder. Can you tell me if there should be a folder called GTNNAVDATA or not.

I also tried the alternate path for versions 6.50+ without the aforementioned folder but it still wouldnt work.

Thanks Grant.

You might be reading too much the details.

Let's stick to the first sentence in the manual:

Preparing the virtual datacard

The first step is to create a virtual datacard folder where to store the flight plans and the user waypoints. This folder must be named FPLN and be located in the GTN Trainer Data folder

typically: "C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\Databases\FPLN"

So this is not difficult at all:

  1. Open file explorer and browse to "C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\Databases\"
  2. Then create the FPLN folder there.

Hi Jean Luc thank you for getting back to me, what you have said is what i did the first time, created the FPLN and placed it exactly as you have stated and as stated in the manual but none of my imported plans showed up.

I'm going to have a look at the format of the plan imported from pilot2atc that is where the problem may be. When i look in the FPLN folder my plans are there, so they are being transferred.

It doesn't stop me using the gtn which since the latest update is now working faultlessly with the carenado aircraft,

Thanks again, Grant.

Thank you floydcox that's what it was all the time. I've re read the manual and it is not clear that you  have to re click the menu button. Import button now visible and my flight plans are listed. Unfortunately the plan from pilot2atc fails to import, i suspect the format is wrong somehow but I'll have a look at that later.

Very pleased to have it working now, just my interpretation of the manual at fault.

Grant.
