(New P3D user) PTA with Active Sky and ASCA

Recommended Posts

I am very experienced in tweaking FSX, but brand new to P3D.

I think I want to run P3D with ActiveSky and ASCA and PTA.

But the PTA support says "Before working with tweaks, please make sure that you have all original Prepar3D shaders in sim. "

What deos this mean?

Can I install ActiveSky/ASCA and still use PTA?

If so, is the install order important?

How do these products affect each other?

Cheers,

ActiveSky, REX etc. only affect the *textures* - and work completely independently of the core P3D shaders. These shaders live in P3D root - in the ShadersHLSL root.

Before installing/running PTA for the first time, it's wise to back up this complete folder (quite a few files, but all small). PTA will back them up anyway, but it's good to have an independent backup in any case.

If you get into trouble - or you get a "not default" error on install, then the simplest thing to do is to reinstall the P3D *Client* (only).

Adam.
