P3D+ASP4+ASCA+ENVTEX. Do I need ENVDIR?

Recommended Posts

I'm just doing the install of EVNTEX 1.2 over my P3D+ASP4+ASCA installation, and during the installation the ENVTEX install routine has proceeded into offering to install ENVDIR.

Do I need this with ASP4 as the weather engine? Should I let it install that component, or cancel it?

Don't want to screw up ASP4/ASCA.

Cheers.

Yes, you need it. EnvDir is nothing else as an advanced GUI. Itself does nothing to your sim. It allows you to control ENVTEX and ENVSHADE after you have installed them.

I see in your signature that you have  ASP4+ASCA+EnvTex+ REX SF3D.

I'm about to install REX SF3D, then my line-up will be the same.

Can I ask, do you use a shader modifier? PTA or ENVSHADE for example. And if so, why did you choose the one you did.

I have PTA installed, but with ENVTEX running, I'm wondering if life would be simpler if I ran ENVSHADE, and if so, is there any image/weather quality difference between then?

Cheers

Currently I have disabled ENVTEX and ENVSHADE just to compare some other things. I'll probably go back to them. I have not installed PTA since longer times and imo ENVSHADE is much more user friendly but of course you don't have many options. I've also read that PTA and any shader mods can make problems with PMDGs PBR technolgy That's one of the reasons why I've disabled ENVSHADE. But it seems that ENVSHADE and PMDGS PBR technique are compatible.
