Checking avsim a couple of times a day. Seems a long time since we had any new news or info. Is there any small tidbits the devs feel like giving us to feed our interest?Cheers

Brazil won :-(

>Brazil won :-( The best team usually does win.As for USA, this isn't American football, no hands allowed. Different rules apply. I was hoping to see USA better than the previous 'attempts' (if you can even call it that) at football, but alas, it seems "Gods own country" is more interrested in baseball and basketball.......

> The best team usually does win.Not when the corrupt referee gives a penalty count of 25-9 against you. I can't believe that.> As for USA..Thats another group!

Yeah, all of the American soccer fans and players and coaches think this is American football. :-roll

That's not the only thing that was robbed..this thread for instance =)

The US came out more aggresive this game thus more penalties. Being English and living in the US since a young age I've seen the up and down interest in soccer and was hoping this was their year to finally do well in Cup play, but alas, despite a valiant effort against Italy, they'll need a miracle to advance.Go England!!! Bring on Ecuador. Good luck US, I'll be rooting for a miracle, would be great if they could make it to the next round. As far as American soccer fans thinking this is baseball or basketball, probably and exaggeration, but let's be honest, the US has pretty much ignored soccer despite valiant efforts by Pele and other international stars throughout the years to increase the interest in the sport. I still don't understand it, but I've been playing since I was 6 and most people I talk to in the States think it's a boring and timid sport, though seeing McBride elbowed in the face hopefully changed a few minds. I'm glad to see a few fans posting here, I'm lucky enough to work from home and have seen nearly every game and have really enjoyed it, the last world cup I was going through a divorce so I missed most of it. Anyway, good luck to which ever team you support.Ian.

it is fun to watch, I plan on recording the US game on thursday.what I dont get is if the US wins wont that give them 4 points, and thus E class tie? what happens in that case? extra games?

I think the biggest turnoffs are (for the record I really like soccer and played it for several years in my younger days):1) low or no scoring: Americans like scoring and like it often - notice that baseball's popularity is waning too.2) Crying babies: It appears that if a player is touched by a blade of grass in just the wrong way, they fall to the ground screaming as if they just had both kneecaps shot out by a 30-06. Then, after the foul has/has not been called, they pop back up as if nothing happened.3) No breaks: This is more of a media problem. There is no possibility of commercial breaks during a half, so the game is not American TV friendly.(This is just my opinion, I could be (and probably am) wrong.)

Here's the criteria in order for advancing to the round of 16:a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;:( goal difference in all group matches;c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches. If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows:d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned;g) drawing of lots by the Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup.
