Missing scenery section ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

 Upon doing flights to and from Asia right around Japan my flight crashes. I don't know if it's a corrupted or missing scenery section. There used to be an application  that would pop up and not only show you the erroneous section info but would allow you to continue your flight. Is this or something similar still available?

 Thanks,

There are some options available in the sim (set in the FSX.cfg) to flag missing scenery elements, but no real-time scenery checker I've ever seen.

Best advice I can give is to first disable any add-on scenery in the area and see if that cures it.  If not, then a region-specific AI plane with a bad texture could also be behind it.  Finding one of those is a real chore.

You can add this to your FSX.cfg and it will alert you to missing scenery/objects/pizza.  Boy, I hate missing pizza!:blink:

[SCENERY]
// To show alerts or areas, set to = 1
// To hide alerts or areas, set to = 0

// Alert for missing textures
ShowMissingTextureAlert=1

// Alert for missing objects
MissingLibraryAlert=1

// Render Trigger areas as visible boxes
ShowTriggers=1

[PIZZA]

To show alerts for missing pepperoni pizza, set to 0

To show alerts missing sausage pizza, set to 1

To show alerts for double cheese, set to 100

After running the repair cycle and restarting my PC, FSX would try to start and then crash. This occurred after several attempts. Any thoughts?

So, after running a repair and still could not launch FSX, I ran a repair of FSX Acceleration and lo and behold everything loaded. Now for the bad news....my flights are still crashing off the Japanese coast. BTW I even replaced  the scenery folder.
