ParkingPositionGenerator overwrites addon airport with default

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Sorry for the presumptuous headline - but I have kinda of a weird issue...

When running the ParkingPositionGenerator (PPG), it recognized FlyTampa-Copenhagen and generates and XML file.

"D:\Games\Prepar3D\FlyTampa\Copenhagen\scenery\AF2_EKCH_FSX_sw.bgl" -> 128 positions for EKCH

but then overwrites this file, with the default one, when finding the bgl file in P3D\Scenery directory:

"D:\Games\Prepar3D\Scenery\0601\scenery\APX51120.bgl" -> 155 positions for EKCH

This ends up with having a wrong parking position file for this addon airport. This happens, when setting the search directory to the P3D root directory. As a test, I tried, to only setup PPG to search in P3D\FlyTampa directory, and this yielded the correct XML file. There's a file size difference so I can tell them apart. (26KB to 33KB).

Why is this happening?! Am I doing something wrong or am I only meant to specify a scan of only addon airport folders, and not the P3D root directory?

I hope this made sense... 🙂

Hi Anders,

That's because you have installed P3Dv4 in a modified path...

Default is:

C:\Program Files\ Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

Yours is

D:\Games\Prepar3D\

Note that PPG checks for "Prepar3D v" in your installation path, if it detects that string it will know the difference between a stock airport and an add-on, and it wiill give the add-on preference.

If you would have chosen D:\Games\Prepar3d v4\    it would have worked.

I recommend not too mess with installation paths. Changing the drive is no problem, but leave the rest default. BTW, P3Dv4 is not a game 😉

If you run P3Dv4, you could also just take my EKCH.xml from my site, it will give you a jump start.

Hi Nico,

Thanks for the answer... soo, how do I resolve this - if I can?

If I choose to exclude the P3D root directory, it works... but then I won't get the stock airports... 🙂

Is the only solution really to uninstall P3D and re-install, using the default folder name?

Without re-installing you could do this:

1) First run PPG with a path to the P3D root directory.

2) Quit PPG

3) Then run PPG with a path to your FlyTampa directory, or add more paths to other add-on folders below P3D root.

EDIT: Note that you won't get supplier: stock airport for your stock airports, but that is not a big problem. That is something you can only solve by re-installing P3D.

Yearh okay... I actually found another solution 🙂

I made a symbolic link from

D:\Games\Prepar3D v4

to

D:\Games\Prepar3D

This actually seems to work.

Thanks alot for all your help and quick support! 🙂
