P3d 4.5 is out!

So what do we do : remove the auto Discovery addons ? ( backup the “old” add-ons.cfg file )

I have just updated my devel system, full uninstall and reinstall. Reinstalled FTX Global and everything seems to be working OK. Did not delete the shaders (I am not using any shader mod).

WRT the addons, P3D v4.5 doesn't migrate the wrong entries from one add-ons.cfg to the correct one automatically, we have to do it manually. But it is not mandatory, add-ons that were working fine with the existing add-ons.cfg reference in 4.4 will continue to do so in 4.5.

If you want to clean up the mess, here is the procedure:

  • Open the file "C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\add-ons.cfg" in Notepad++
  • Find all entries that look exactly like this pattern: "PATH=C:\Users\<your user>\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\<SomeFolder>"
  • Delete those Packages (all of it, [Package.], PATH, ACTIVE, REQUIRED) and make sure afterwards that the Package.nn numbering is still consistent from 1 to nn.
  • Start P3D and accept all messages that ask you to activate an addon

Or wait for the next version of P4AO, I will implement a cleanup mechanism eventually.

Best regards

The only thing I did just do was uninstalling FSSpotlights and FS Labs. Of course deleted the shaders and P3D.CFG, let P3D build them new. Also deleted the sceneryindexes_x64 and facilities folder. That did the trick and p3d is up running right now.

i dod NOT delete any other files.

Tried everything suggested including uninstalling FSLabs products and still 4.5 is a non starter. Launch screen only and no scenario startup.

Reading through the change list, does anyone else besides me see nothing there compelling enough to jump right in and break things before all the add-on devs have a chance to test/update their stuff?

As someone not using too many addons that typically break with version updates, I'm ready to jump right in.

Of course I'm interested in the purported rendering/graphical adjustments which have been done, but I also like seeing they've fixed some sound issues which were annoying and the "return to mission screen after loading a scenario" tweak will be a huge timesaver - not having to load the entire simulation to then change certain parameters in a saved flight.

This will be interesting!

First i removed tomatoshade and reflections, then I uninstalled client, installed client, started p3d, then uninstalled content, installed content, updated fsuipc, AS, FSDT updater. Everything works as in previous version

I can’t tell from the change log but does 4.5 fix the aliasing issue with PBR textures?

Well that was an extremely fast DL - about 5 min for both 4.5 and the SDK - I expected serious lag midday. Thank you LM!

But before I can uninstall 4.4 and all add-ons, I have to finish my NGX flight from KIAD to KPHX - 400 NM to go🤪

I do not use tomatoshade, I uninstalled fsuipc.

The difference might be, I did a full update of client/content/scenery to 4.5. Removing each using the control panel and running each installer in turn.

I may try and do a full clean reinstall of P3D.

Hi,

P4AO has been updated to 1.39 b12. It will move any stray add-on packages to the correct config file automatically when you start the tool (and a small message tells you that it did). As usual, this change is not active, only when you press the "Save" button will anything be written to your config files.

Btw, you can also use the "Tools" page in P4AO to delete the shaders.

Make sure to create a full backup with P4AO "Backup and Restore" often.

@those where the simulator is not starting:
Make sure to check your addon paths. Broken paths can lead to the simulator getting stuck on the splash screen. When in doubt, run the P4AO, it will read your configuration and highlight all inconsistent paths in violet colors.

Best regards
