Carenado ATR-42!

I have already submitted a request on Carenado Support website, I'm waiting for them to contact me. Is there any other forum for Carenado, beside of avsim?

I know I am a a fussy old man, but I like to fly the correct aircraft on appropriate routes.  The MJC is stellar, hi fidelity, but the Dash 8 is only widely used by Flybe, Air NZ and Qantaslink.  I was looking forward to the ATR to fly on the myriad European, Caribbean and South American routes where they are found in numbers.  As to Milviz coming out with the latest version that's OK by me, I enjoy newer cockpit setups and am less attracted to legacy revivals.  Like many of us I cut my teeth on the Flight1 ATR, but haven't flown one again until now as I have gone with P3D and the works.  I am not really hung up on which aircraft I fly on high density routes, Airbus or Boeing, but some of these thinner, shorter routes are specialised and I want to keep to type.

PS will someone kindly run through a Hotel start, so I don't reduce ground crew to pieces.

But I will say to someone who enjoys a less complex model, this is OK except for the limited functionality of the FMS and external flightplanning.  Enjoy.

I think the Carenado A42 is great bird! Yes, she does, and the systems mostley, needs some polish, and about the Milviz ATR? I mean, how long have I been waiting for the complete release of the King Air 350??? I bought it for at least 4-5 years ago, and that bird ist stil not finished... So in the mean time, hats of to Carenado for their A42! Great job guys!

I'm not really surprised about that... I bought my first carenado aircraft a few month ago, the Falcon 50 and I was very very disapointed about it. I think that Carenado are kidding us with their aircraft. That was the first, and for sure the last plane I bought from Carenado. 

Like you said for the ATR, they also gave us the real checklist while there are not even 30% of the real systems modelled. What's the purpose ?? I can't understand !  

By the way, I don't think they'll fix the problems, a lot of bugs have been reported on their previous add-ons, they generally release 1 patch to fix 5 or 10% of the problems, and then, add-ons are discontinued.

Agree with all of you.

But to be honest, I have the PMDG stuff and the amazing Majestic Dash 8, but.......BUT, I buy Carenados so I can press Ctrl+ E, and just admire the scenery.

If you know that's what you get, you won't be disappointed.

I miss the Flight1 ATR, and the  -600 from Milviz, just won't be the same. The similarities between the 500 and 600 end at the way it looks from the outside, by all RW accounts. So for me, this one will have to do, and I'll just pretend that it does stuff, it doesn't.

It does look nice though !

Is there a way to use Hotel Mode?

I've followed what I used to do in the F1 model. Turn battery on, turn on the fuel pump for Engine #2. Pressed the Aux Hydraulic Pump on the throttle quadrant. Turned on the Prop Brake. Started engine #2. When I got to 20% N2, I clicked on the condition lever once. I've done this a handful of times and only once had the engine start up without the prop spinning. Is there a step I'm missing?

Carenado = Ctrl + Enter, for me.

There appears to be a forum on the Carenado site, but not sure whether you will get a response from Mr Carenado.

Best to just send a sensible list to them of main things that should be changed.

If you send them a massive essay, they prolly won't read it, if you take my point.

Hi Colin,

Prop brake engagement procedure is:

1. Gust lock - ON

2. Condition Lever - FUEL SO or FTR position

3. Blue Hydraulic Pressure - Available

NOTE: If you don't have any engine started, you have to press the AUX HYD PUMP button, located on the pedestal, to have blue hydraulic pressure. If you have one engine running, you don't have to press it, because the aux hyd pump is already engaged in single engine ops.

4. Prop Brake Switch - Select ON.

After all of this, make sure you have prop brake light on. There are two locations where you can find this information: next to the prop brake switch and on the MEMO Panel, located on the center panel, under TRIM Indicator.

It does GeeBee, but you must have the gust lock and the park brake engaged before you start.  Then, at least for me, follow 46Pilot exactly.  It is a good modelling of Hotel mode, except the Aux Hyd pump only appears to apply to the handbrake???

Indeed after more flying I am just browned off that the the FMS functionality is limited and that flightplan import is not possible.  In the olden days I used to apply the 3x Top of Descent rule, but I would now rather have it calculated accurately.  But Carenado has sent us back to the past on VNAV.

Frankly I have spent enough of my life doing go-rounds in RW aircraft on one engine, that for simming even on the brilliant MJC I turn failures OFF.  Who wants a heart attack at the computer desk?

So all I would hope is that for once Carenado might just upgrade the FMS to modern standards, and as far as I am concerned they would have a winner.  For those who want failures, go elsewhere.

I cannot improve FPS. High or low P3D setting makes little difference.

I get around 30% less performance than the PMDG 747 !

In the simobjects/aircraft/Carenado AT45 ... there are 3 versions of a GTN exe.  Which would anyone recommend I choose for P4.4?  With the F1 there is text to put somewhere, but where ....is it in the aircraft.cfg or the cfg tor P4?  or a somewhere else GTN cfg.  I am trying to get a better navigation system going, but there is not a word of assistance in the underdone manuals.

Please help, as I have never used GTN.

As far as I remember, you have to use your F1 configurator (a desktop app) and there you choose different options. I haven't used it since some time ago, but this was the procedure, more or less.

Hi Ian,

There is a F1GTN750 exe file located in simobjects/airplanes....carenado AT45 folder. Simply run that and the GTN will be in the center console next time you fly. There is also a 'F1NOGTN' exe file which removes the GTN, and a RXPGTN exe (only choose this if you have the RealityXP GTN).

Yes but it has dawned on me that it is not a free gift from Carenado, this is for those who own the danged add-on.  Not sure the ATR is worth the investment.

Unfortunately, it's too buggy right now. For someone who just wants to hop between two airports, could be ok, but for someone who wants something more.... 😞

Yes that comes as a big surprise, but obviously there is another waypoint or aid a long way away named POY.  So simply delete this one, and the distance scale comes back to something more realistic.  A more complete FMS would popup and ask you to choose, but of course not this oversimplified product.  Strangely enough the next waypoint though based on POY worked ok for me.  However to be safe you can find another SID that does not use POY.

Unfortunetly, after Carenado's release for the Saab 340, I have zero interest to buy any new Carenado addons. They didn't provide a simple external power for Saab 340 either, and jumps straight into new addons forgetting the old ones. It is still 44$ for the addon. I will think about buying the Carenado ATR 42, but not with good hopes.

It's not a big deal to check SID/STAR but for payware addon we're expecting something more and more care about customers. 1.3 just released, i send this issue to the devs and nothing changed(((

They always say that they will improve the FMC and VNAV... did not happen. I will not buy any other aircraft from them till they will really do it. Only promises.

With their FMC or with the GTN I can not fly their products properly on Vatsim. One is badly implemented, the other one can not use the latest Airac cycle.
