What on earth is "Friday Harbour"?

Recommended Posts

If you don't select an airport, FSX defaults to Friday Harbour. What on earth is Friday harbour, where is friday harbour, and what's so special about it?

Friday Harbor is your Default Flight.  The default aircraft is the ultralight.  You can make your Default Flight anything you want.  I have mine set up at and airport in my time zone using the default Baron58 in a cold and dark scenario.

My rule is that I never fly the default flight, but it allows any aircraft that I choose to be manually started and I can choose any airport.

P.S.  Friday Harbor is in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. Near Seattle, Washington.

I see why you’ve done that. Say that it’s 1722 where I am, FSX sets the time at Friday Harbour to 1722 local time. So, irritatingly, one has to set the time at the airport you wish to start at!

Absolutely!  If you use an airport in your own time zone for the default flight, then no matter where you want to start, the time should be correct.

That was because it was in SubLogic's backdoor so to speak.  the founder, Bruce Artwick was from of Norridge, IL which was an inner suburb of Chicago.

My first time in Friday harbour was in our boat "Knot-a-lot-o-Yot" which we sailed from Canada's Gulf Islands and from there to some of the rest of the San Juan Islands. For such international travel Friday Harbour was dominant because of it's U.S.Customs Office at the top of the steps from where we tied up. Beautiful town, and drop dead gorgeous part of the world! ❤️
