Cairo scenery for the latest version of P3D

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have just bought the Cairo Airport (https://secure.simmarket.com/armi-project-cairo-international-airport-heca-fsx.phtml), but there is no way I can get it to work. ground level of the airport is different to the surrounding area (none of that area seems to be level). Also, the 05L runway seems the disappear when you get very close to the runway.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks,

Gaz

That Armi scenery is listed on Simmarket as FSX only.  The SDG version of HECA works well in P3Dv4.

The way I fix FSX sceneries with the sorts of issues you describe is with ADE, where I'd start by placing an airport flatten poly underneath and then tweaking the airport elevation if needed.

sdg group make a Cairo scenery at simmarket. That is for P3D but not up to date for the current layout. If you have elevation issues look to any altitude or afcad files like Vector not being disabled.

Sorry - but the file I have bought is called

"SDG - CAIRO INTL AIRPORT V2 HECA FSX P3D"

Doesn't that mean I have the right one for P3D?

Thanks, Gaz

The release date of HECA is in 2016 which corresponds to SP2.
I doubt it’s compatible with 64-bit P3DV4.
On the link it talks about FSX, FSX SE, P3D v2 and P3D v3, so  32bits.

Simmarket says Prepar3D v2-4 compatible, I may be wrong but I have a doubt.

There is a link to a P3Dv4-compatible installer on the products page of the SDG website...it installed without issue and does work in P3Dv4.4

The airfield layout looks reasonably current...all runways, taxiways, and approach navaids in the scenery are still there IRL, but the scenery does pre-date the addition of terminal 2, and the parking layout on the international ramps has changed since the V2 scenery was published.

The absence of T2 does annoy me, because, unless I'm mistaken, looking at the photoreal coverage that's present int his package, T2 already existed at the time this scenery was published. Not sure why SDG didn't build it, but it's a shame.

That said, I wrote SDG a few weeks ago to ask if they would ever update HECA to add T2. They responded that they were still working on Bahrain, but that they would work on an update to HECA to add T2. They didn't say when, however.

Pertsonally I have Armi's HECA and while it has some issues, I like it and it works reasonably well in P3Dv4. I believe it's overall a more detailed representation than what SDG provided.

Yeah, I have in my ops notes that HECA works best at night because of that underwhelming low-res photoscenery background.  Have never seen the ARMI version, but since I don't buy FSX-only sceneries any more, it's no longer an option anyway.  Usually, if I'm going to/from this region I use HESH or LLBG.

There are afcad errors in their afcad and I cannot fix them myself or else all buildings disappear if I recompile the afcad. The GA parking on the east side is all unconnected to the taxi nodes.

Are you starting with HECA_ADEX_SDG.bgl after installing with the P3Dv4-specific installer?  I just recompiled it with ADE 1.76.6715 (Pro) with no missing buildings or other scenery elements (they're all in bgls separate from the airport file anyway).

With or without there being a decent product here, it is terrible to install.

Thanks to advice on this thread, I got a link helping how to get a version on upgrading my reference number. It sounded good, so I installed it and re-ran the original install (a later version needed to be paid for - but i've already paid simMarket). It seemed to re-run when I followed the instructions, but then I got the error in the screenshot here, so I'm still no no closer to fixing the problem:

Do I need to be a Windows expert to install something I have bought?

Did you run the installer as Administrator?  Looks like it's aborting due to a file system permission error in one of the default P3D directories.
