New Screenshots

Recommended Posts

Well, no. Actually a lowered surface on a wing (aileron, flap) increases the camber and providing additional lift (and associated drag). There is drag as you mentioned, but the drag would cause the left wing to move backwards, causing what I would think to be a more severe form of adverse yaw. I have never had an assymetrical flap condition, but in the situation seen in the screenshot, I woud expect a similar result to turning the yoke right (the left aileron lowers a bit)...a raised left wing.It is really cool to see though in hopes that it is not just a pre-beta bug they are working out.

Trust me, if it's a beta bug now it'll be a release candidate feature by the time the Aces crew makes note of this thread :D(jk)

Given the pic of the California Highway Patrol Helicopter, and the fact we have moving traffic, do you think we'll be able to see Ponch's face on the CHiPs Officer's face? Maybe they'll actually have some people pulled over for speeding? :)I wonder if there will be traffic accidents?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

Hm, looks quite like self-shadowing on the plane (check some of the Skyhawk close ups). Or has this even been discussed before? Sorry if it has. I do not quite have time to check forums etc on a regular basis these days. I just saw it and I think it was cool (if I am not mistaken it really *is* self-shadowing).RegardsEtienne

Etienne, Yes, those are self shadows, as previewd in some previous FSX screenshots, mostly a C172. Yes, they are very cool! How have you been? I haven't talked to you in a while. When you have the chance, please send me an email at tiberiu11@yahoo.com

Yeah, I can't believe you're trying to debug a screenshot. Oy! ;)

I was just explaining to them that from what I know about aerodynamics that this looks like a bug. Maybe it isn't, I don't know. However, the aircraft's attitude would not indicate to me that it is actually in an assymetrical flap condition. Hopefully I wasn't being too geeky or nitpicking a pre-beta screenshot. :)

Simple explanation: the animations on the model were broken when the screenshots were taken.

>>I like the new shots, very cool.>>>>But I noticed something a little stange in this one:>>>>http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/...sim2006/450010/>>>>Anyone else notice it?>>>My guess is the lens flare happening on the left elevator. >Shouldn't that be in the shadow of the tail?>>>Are we going to be able to break certain parts in FSX? Is>that why the left flap is down in all the shots? It's just an animation bug-- don't read anything extra into it. :)Cheers, jason
