4.5 CTD's

Recommended Posts

I haven't had to deal with CTD's since FSX, not really sure how to even begin troubleshooting my issue. Is there a log file from P3D that could give me clues as to what maybe causing it? I get no errors, just straight up CTD, mid flight or on take off. The update to 4.5 was client + content. I haven't done any .cfg deletions, maybe perhaps I should start with that and if so, which one should I nuke?

Edit: Just saw the CTD guide, will read through it and report back.

In digging more into this some previous application errors were referencing UTL, which I am now only using for GA. Seems like this was reported to them by others. I'll try to complete the flight without it running and see if it bombs.

Tried it again without UTL, it crashes with the same FSUIPC error.  @Pete Dowson Any thoughts on this?

Is FSUIPC just for controls or do you have an addon attaching with it? If so try with FSUIPC but run without addons.

Thanks Steve. Any idea how can I tell what runs via FSUIPC? I assume this would be things like Radar Contact, CH Yoke? I didn't configured FSUIPC for anything particular. I really have no idea what to start with.

I was thinking it could be one of those things acting on FSUIPC to cause the problem. Maybe leave controls as they are for the moment mostly they won't cause it. Perhaps try without RC and anything you can think of disable - take a blind swing at it. You have got the correct version of FSUIPC on there? Check with Pete.

Hi, any luck with this? I appear to be having a similar problem...

When do you get a CTD G?

Problems are found quickest by halving the possibilities. Uncheck the addons and try it. Some addons you have might have to be at a correct version level to go with the newer version of P3D check that out. If you applied some modifying apps like shader tweaks you might have to restore to stock. If all fails apply a full clean reinstallation, the stock sim works fine so problems with that could be a problem in the PC whereby a driver might need updating for some item but unlikely.

Hi Steve

Thanks for the reply. The crashes have been happening approx 90mins into a flight. I’m using Active Sky, Rex EF, Radar contact  with the Aerosoft Airbus. No shaders etc. I have Toposim, ORBX global LC and that’s about it.

Haven't posted on Pete Dowson’s forum yet as there are a couple of threads already on the subject and I was waiting for replies to those.

I’ll try paring everything back and see what happens 🙂

Thanks for your help

Regards

G

90mins? Maybe an AI traffic symptom. Sometimes when you come into a remote area some AI might be activating or maybe even a static aircraft could be an issue if it's injected with a problem. Or something tries to remove the model or AI traffic. In the P3D World menu you can uncheck Scenery items and in the Options menu you can uncheck some addons. Then easy to replace them after testing.

Potentially, with CTDs, crashes to desktop, whereby the sim stops completely, although not certain, are often the result of an error within software attached to the sim via dll or gauge. Could be worth checking those first.

The developer of the software will indicate his software requires FSUIPC if needed.  You can check out his forums on the FSUIPC website and maybe they have a list.  Cannot see them doing that though.  Always make sure you have the latest version of FSUIPC.
