Will it remain at 800x600?

I'm going to keep saying this - Please, please, please, find a way so that the screen can "fit to screen" on my 1920 x 1200 Dell Laptop display. There are so many aspects I miss because the secondary screens (help, map, etc.) are so small on the display and don't expand to fit the screen size. I don't think I care so much that it stay at 800 x 600 (obviously bigger is better), but I really want it to be able to expand to fit. Please, Please, Please.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

I don't think there's any reason to scrap 800x600 as the minimum resolution, AS LONG AS the dialogs change size along with chosen screen resolution. I really, really would like to see the dialogs use more of my screen, especially since they will still pause the sim (so there's no reason to "see past them").800x600 is the highest resolution VR headsets support at this time (correct me if I'm wrong), so scrapping it would be a nasty surprise for those few who use these devices.

Our dialogs will remain fixed size but are moving to 1024x768 instead of 800x600. Sorry, but there are reasons why this has to be this way.

...good thing I don't have VR gear, then ;) Anyway, I'll reserve judgement til I've seen more screenshots of the UI in FSX. The move to 1024x768 has the potential to work just fine, but it really depends on how the UI is designed. Hopefully not quite as "loosely" as FS9's.See example:http://www.puonti.net/stuff/fs9_map_ui.gifMike, I know we'll see more screenshots in due time but knowing you worked on the UI can you put me at ease and say that FSX's dialogs will make better use of available space? :)

Mike,Thinking about this again, when you say "Our dialogs will remain fixed size but are moving to 1024x768" does that mean that the "in game" resolution can be set at 800x600 but that to see the dialogues correctly you need 1024 x 768 (This would not be that bad for us Z800 users) or does that mean all the screens must be set to a minimum of 1024x768?

Thanks Mike, I'm looking forward to seeing the new UI :)

Could you or somebody else explain why, if it's not too complicated, that on my desktop, the screen expands to fill the whole screen, but it does not do it on my laptop? As I noted, I don't mind the fixed size, but the fact that it won't expand on my laptop makes it nearly unusable at 800 x 600. 1024 x 768 should be better. Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

It is 1920 x 1200. Many programs are able to expand to fit the screen. I wouldn't mind if it had black bars on either side. Problem is, it only shows as an 800 x 600 block inside the 1920 x 1200 area, with big black area surrounding it. Why would it being widescreen not allow it to fit the screen? Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

If it's running at 1920x1200 and the UI is only using 800x600 of course it would appear small. What would you want it to do, automatically change your screen resolution to 800x600? What am I not getting?

We have a check in the device mode enumerator that filters out modes below 1024x768, meaning that you cannot run fullscreen in 800x600. Furthermore, I just added a check this week that will prevent you from running in windowed mode if your Windows desktop is running at less than 1024x768. This is to prevent the UI from being clipped and therefore unusable.
