CH Pedals keep apply unrequested brakes

I'm using CH rudder pedals on my Just Flight BAe164 home built cockpit.  When taxiing, I often experience the brakes coming on even though I haven't applied them (i.e.I'm not pressing the tops of the pedals).  Differential breaking works fine and doesn't seem to be the cause of the problem.  Some days are worse than others.   I've checked all my sim control settings and even reset them, but nothing seems to  clear the problem.  I've also tried re-calibrating the pedals and brake setting.  Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas about what might be causing this problem......the pedals are about 15 years old, but I wouldn't say they've been thrashed to bits with use.  Look forward to your advice 😍

This is a typical symptom of a chased wire. There are some YouTube videos that show the wiring and how to repair it. I had a similar problem with mine and repaired it this way,

Unfortunately, that's behavior typical of potentiometer "spiking" that happens as they wear out.  A pot uses a small electrode "wiper" that slides across a resistive film, and over time that wiper becomes dirty and/or abrades the film to the point where the film no longer presents an even gradual resistance as the wiper moves across it.  Sometimes, if the pot can be opened or disassembled, you can blow it out with air and/or use a special cleaner on it, but the cheap pots used in those CH controls are sealed throwaways.  15 years is a long life for a set of plastic pedals, TBH.  Time for some new ones, me thinks.

Now, that said, a "phantom" controller axis can also do this.  Check the axis assignments for every device listed in the Controls menu and make sure you don't have something like a gamepad axis also assigned to the brakes.

This is the exact problem that caused me to eventually replace my CH pedals.  It is a wear issue that can be solved over time with "creative" calibration by using a CD or jewel case as a spacer during the calibration process.  It will work until you have further wear of the product.  Do a web search for CH Rudder Brakes Jewel CD case calibration
