question about adding scenery effects and global texture

Recommended Posts

Dear lorby developer, on one occasion you recommend me to unify all airports, for example Brazil, to include all Brazilian airports in the add-on.xml.

  The question is:
1. in relation to the effects and global texture I can add them in the same add-on.xml of Brazil.   https://ibb.co/Qfztb45

2. Or create a separate folder with another name to place all the global textures and effects of the airports and generate another add-on.xml. https://ibb.co/jkHyxzz
I ask the question because many textures and effects are repeated in several airports.

which of the two is better and which you recommend 1 or 2

Hi,

unless these are thousands of files, I don't think that it makes a lot of difference. I would use the method that makes the most sense to you in terms of the organization of your addons. As you are dividing them up by country, option 1 seems the best choice. Effects files or textures shouldn't use that much space, so you gain little by unifying them - and have the additional effort to always copy files around (a procedure which I am trying to avoid, not to confuse possible uninstallers).

Technically, option 2 is the better one, since the sim has to process less files - so it is faster in finding them. But unless we are talking about thousands of files, that wouldn't really matter.

Best regards

LORBY-SI
