In my opinion, you have done a great job here.  The forums are a great resource and your efforts to keep them civil is much appreciated.

Good luck with your treatment.

Jim, though it's been many years since we last worked together, I recall fondly each time we published reviews of new editions of Microsoft's flight simulator and pioneering add-ons, and with Tom's leadership organizing annual expositions across the country to bring enthusiasts together with one-another and with developers.

Along with so many others I'm adding my encouragement, based on personal experience, that with today's medical knowledge you can expect to recover fully. I'm a survivor (at least so far) of stage 4 melanoma that had metastasized to both lungs and a kidney, diagnosed some three years ago. Throughout the past year I've been in full remission. After a year of infusions my immune system was "educated" to recognize and destroy melanoma cancer cells. Because of immunology research and related advances over the past 5 years or so, I'm here today. Along with simming friends I've made here in San Diego I look forward to even more amazing advances in simulation realism.

Maury,

Thanks for your comments.  I suspect you were on Keytruda which is one of the treatments I am receiving.  Glad you survived your ordeal!

Best regards,

Jim

I simply cannot believe all of the well wishes I have received concerning my cancer.  It is great to know I have several members watching my back as I continue to go through the treatments for my lung cancer. I am taking two Chemo and one Keytruda treatment every three weeks.  On my third treatment.  I want to thank everyone for your kind comments and prayers for my recovery.  This is what makes the Flight Simulation Community so special.  We all care for one another.

Best regards,

Jim

Jim,

First, thank you for all the time you've dedicated to sustaining AVSIM over the years; like many here, this is one of the very rare sites I check ever day.  Secondly, thank you for being fair; I've ask for readdress on a few occasions and always found your responses to be equitable, even if I didn't get 'my own way.'  Finally, I have no doubts you'll kick cancer's azz; you simply don't seem like someone who gives in/up easily. Good luck and please continue to let us know if you need anything and how you're doing.  Get em, sir!

Jim, I just returned from a very long weekend in Xenia, Ohio at the Dayton Hamvention to learn of your health issues. I will be keeping your needs in my prayers.

I knew something was "odd" since I seem to have lost my moderating powers, yet still have full access to the Admin CP. Moderators CP seems to have vanished without a trace...

Regardless, keep the faith and know that we have your back!

Gee... this is surely a kick in the teeth 😕  So used to seeing your name and posts on the forums like a big ol' comfy chair, that we forget how quickly things can change.  Speedy recovery my fellow simmer so you can get back on here and keep us all in line!

Marcus

Hang in there Jim. I'm a cancer survivor and I can attest to how amazing modern medicine is. You'll make it through this. Just remember there are many of us out there who have been where you are now and all we're still here to root for you and to care for you..........Doug

Just catching up on such sad news, Jim.There was me thinking of you watching Koepka yesterday. I am fairly positive after the 'hurdles' you have overcome as the Administrator here, you will undoubtedly overcome this, hopefully, temporary hiatus.

All the Best for a rapid recovery. May God go with you.

Thank you Rick for your kind comments.  They mean a lot.  Hope to be out golfing again some day soon.  I would be able to play now if it were just cancer but I am also on oxygen and I wouldn't even last through the 1st hole!  But breathing is getting better so my fingers crossed!

Jim

Yours was a volunteer position that seemed like real work, many times thankless work.  It is appreciated.

Thanks for your comments Mark.  Greatly appreciated.  Your comments were right on!

As you know Jim, I've been there, done that and have the scars but that was 1988 and medicine has come a long way since then. Believe me - a POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE goes a long way in fighting your battle.

We have your back - you will be missed.  Get your wna back here ASAP.

Best wishes and prayers,

Vic

Thanks Vic.  And thanks for all your hard work and support as part of the AVSIM Moderating Team!
