Thanks for all your help in these forums! I have updated to v4.5 (Client only), deleted and rebuilt shaders etc. and I am more than happy with the results. Just a curious question though, I checked my registry for the this entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics\DisableHWAcceleration

It does not exist in my registry, Do I need to add it?

Regards,

Tom

No you don't, if it was present the you would have to remove it.

Something is odd in your environment, verify if you have disabled hardware acceleration via registry key.

If you have it disabled, then enable it again, this is necessary for 4.5.12 to work at high performance. And for the record we need more information to understand why you are having problems, which includes your full system specs, etc.

Hi Simbol, thanks for the reply.

i did check the REG KEY for the exceleration entry, it is not there. from your instructions on a previous thread i thought that this was the desired setup.

how would i go about entering this into my REGKEY?

Start with what Nyxx wrote. If you see blurries when flying you might try FFTF Dynamic :

Use AGL

0 ft = 0.01

5000 ft = 0.25

hello

like that ?  what does the below need to be set too ??

5000  8300

0.01  025

Capture.jpg

many thanks

AGL Height Scenario

AGL  range : 0 - 5000 ( If you have no blurries after testing you can go down to 4000 )

FFTF  0.01 - 0.25

perfect thanks, and just to check

I run the FFTT then run p3dv4 or p3dv4 then the program ?

thanks

First P3Dv4 , than after loading you run FFTF Dynamic.

If you run P3Dv4 as Admin you need to run FFTF Dynamic as Admin also.

OK, but why is that? I have a .bat that starts a number of programs (including FFTF) with an affinity, and I always run that .bat before P3D. Why is after better?

Here I run it after P3D has been loaded. For all addons I use batch files, but FFTF Dynamic I run manually.

I use the "run=" facility in FSUIPC to load it after P3D is up and running.

Thanks, I'll try that, but I still can't figure out why it would be better to start FFTF after P3D.

I'm not sure anyone has said that it would be better.. just different procedures by different users..

Sure that you are not overthinking this?

And then again... I just checked and see that FFTF when installed first, uses all CPU cores.  If instead, installed with P3D running, it avoids the main P3D core..

Thank you.  Works like a treat with those settings. Thanks

Think it's a fair question, as it just seems like a step to make it slightly more inconvenient for no real reason?

However, if the reason is as Bert mentions, to change the core load, it could be relevant. I just use Process Lasso to permanently change its core affinity and still have it part of my 'preflight.bat' before I run the sim.

I start it in a bat file with affinity FC to keep it off the first core. Seems to work fine.

If you decide to try FFTF with the FSUIPC run= facility, you can also add an affinity mask ("AM=") to the command line.  I find it works well on my hexacore 8086K to run FFTF on core 1 (the second physical core).

Thanks! I'll give that a go...
