FB's KDEN dynamic lightning improved in 4.5

Recommended Posts

Is it just me or did anyone else noticed that the dynamic lights are illuminating pretty much everywhere now? In 4.4 I had a very spotty DL when taxiing at night, but this is improved much now. I know they're working on the new ground textures too.

Did FB release an update to KDEN, or is this just due to 4.5 improvements?

I didn't update anything, this was purely post 4.5.

They haven't updated their scenery yet, to the best of my knowledge.  So it would be just 4.5 improvements I guess.

There is/was some mention of them releasing a SODE update soon.  I would take that as Soontm   😆

So does that dynamic lightning only appear during thunderstorms?  😉

No, I'm serious. For example, taxiing over to 34L from Terminal B, I'd have DL only looking in a certain direction in an angle, now it doesn't go away all the way.

For anyone interested, OldProp, of FSFX Packages fame, created some freeware dynamic lightning.

I think it's fantastic!

4.5 handles night lighting much better than any previous P3D version, this is probably why you're getting better DL from floodlights. I haven't noticed any differences, but the coding change probably plays nicer with your hardware.

+1 on this!!  Also, I'd recommend removing the fx_plane_lightning.fx file from the Effects folder as the dynamic lightning from Old Prop creates a really neat effect in the VC and the default flash effect was always quite overdone....
