GTN trainer crashes P3D

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Out of the blue P3D stops responding the minute i turn on the avionics master in the A2A Beech Bonanza. The GTN screen comes up, but then P3D freezes. I've never had this problem before, so I hope someone has an idea what might be causing this. I'm running P3D v4.5 with the latest hotfix and the most recent version of the GTN.

Hi,

  • Could this be the anti-virus doing a nasty thing behind your back with our files?
  • Is this only with this particular aircraft?

Otherwise whenever a program crashes I'd recommend using the following tool:

App Crash View
https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html

It is very useful in that it facilitates accessing historical crash error report data (essential to troubleshoot the culprit).

It doesn't happen with the other A2A aircraft, it seems related to the Bonanza. The funny thing is that the trainer only crashes with the engine running. If I turn on the avionics master before starting the engine the trainer loads fine...

This is peculiar.

Can you run AppCrashView and report the crash information for further analysis?

Thank you.

The error code means: "Debugger got control C."

The error seems to indicate there is a 'debug activity' of some sort and this is certainly something our software protection is not confortable with. Could there be a 'module' the A2A Bonanza is loading in this particular sequence of actions and our protection detect this as a threat?

Can you please further try this:

  • add the following line under the [GTN_750_1] section in the ini file

    LogTrainer = 7

  • report the content of rxpGtnSim.dll.log file

Actually can you change the added setting to the following and report the log content again?

LogTrainer = 5

Hi Jean-Luc, I have been busy the last couple of days, so no time for flightsimming. This morning I checked the GTN again with the setting LogTrainer = 5. Below is the content of the rxpGtnSim.dll.log file:

Hi,

Just so that I'm understanding the context correctly, this is still happening with the A2A Bonanza only and when starting the engines prior turning on the Avionics Master isn't it?

Furthermore, you initial reports indicate you were running Win8 and the latest Win10 instead?

Last but not least, you're not running the latest GTN version. Since your initial post, we've released v2.5.18 and you might want to update to the latest first.

The latest report indicates a FPU error (floating point unit) and if this is not a bug in our code, or a bug in the Garmin trainer code (there are bugs indeed we hot-patch in the running trainer process in memory), the culprit is very often the video card drivers.

Now given this is only with the Bonanza, under a special startup sequence (engines running), and affecting the FPU, I'd suggest you try in the following order:

  1. Update to v2.5.18 and check it fixes the issue or not.
  2. Disable Shadin Fuel Data Computer and check.
  3. Disable Shadin Air Data Computer and check.

Thanks Jean-Luc,

Correct, it only has happened with the Bonanza so far when starting the engines prior to the avionics master. However, on one occasion the trainer crashed also with the engine of and I have also done a succesful startup of the GTN without the traines crashing, but this happened only once since the start of the problem. (I have not yet mentioned it, but after the first time the issue appreared I did a complete reinstall of P3D, the A2A Bonanza, the Reality XP GTN and the Garmin trainer. However this didn't solve it).

I have been running Win10 since my initial post. I have never used Win8 (went straight to 10 from Win7 quite a while ago already).

I will try to upgrade to the lates GTN version, although I'm pretty sure I had already done that (usually I install over the current install. That is correct right?). Maybe something went wrong there...

I will also try your other suggestions and report back to you next week. Work is in the way again.

Cheers, Bert

I'm not sure why I've mentioned Win8 to start with!?!

The rxp log file shows it is v2.5.17 running so you just have to install the latest v2.5.18 over.
