Flysimware Lear35 texture update

Recommended Posts

Hey all, been gone a while due to real world priorities.

I realize I stated the MU-2 would be next, but that will be done by 3DReach.

So instead, i've started work on the Lear-35.

First things first, I spent the last two days baking ambient occlusion and now started on lightmapping. These first previews are without actual textures, but they speak volumes in terms of spacial orientation and realism.

I started working in Quixel completely for model texturing, and blender for baking everything out. I may decide to revisit the Falcon 50 with some of these new techniques, at least for the interior walls, at some point.

PBR will unfortunately not be implemented, as this model was produced in GMAX, and to our knowledge I do not believe there is any way to export with P3Dv4.4 materials. If anyone has any insight to that, please feel free to chime in!

Stay tuned for all the updates!

Comparison between old and new.

In this screenshot, the new does not include detail textures for the shell, only coloration, ambient occlusion, and emissive maps.

Can't wait to get more done, but baking is a slow process on my PC!

PS: Some smoothing yet to be completed on the ceiling where the textures meet.

Thank you very much for your time and effort as you update the textures in the Lear 35. It is greatly appreciated and I look forward to the finished product.

Hi Folks,

All I can say - is one HUGE thank you - this is by far my FAVORITE aircraft in FSW's stable (I've painted the exterior six times) - and pretty darn high on the list of all time favorites in FS period... Anything you could do to improve the graphics would be most appreciated - as it really the only thing that holds this aircraft back...

Really - greatly appreciated...

Regards,
Scott

It's my pleasure!

Here's a shot of the main panel compared to the lower panels. Main panel is only baked, with the first layer of textures. Still to add grunge!

And we've got new carpet.
(colors may look off, using my old copy of P3Dv3 to preview textures as my v4 takes ages to load with all my addons)

The cabin is far from being completed, so things will change with that.

Here's a shot of the cockpit shell, the sidepocket which is normally black in Lears, and some (not all) misc items baked with emissive/ao textures.
Cockpit shell itself is pretty much done, seats to come soon, center pedestal, etc. Slow process with baking, but the end results are great!

Bringing this old bird back to life, she looks great and what I would imagine a refurbished Lear35 would look like today. Great Job!

One last shot for the night. Cabin only has AO, reworking those soon.

cockpit is coming along, almost done with all the nooks and crannies. Then on to Panel wear.
Baking out the glareshield, reverser knobs and wear out the throttle levers.

Wood came out nice, but may revisit it before the projects over.

Several shots incoming.
Some close ups of panel work before chipping/ wear and tear is added.

General outlook of the cockpit from the glareshield.

A shot of the glareshield.

No specular maps have been created nor added to any aspect of the model.

There are some flat/skewed mapping i'm having to work around, things like the cockpit shell under the glareshield will be sorted out and blended in due time.

The grain/color may appear very defined or dark due to my tomatoshade/reshade, but colors are pretty accurate according to our Lear 35 pilot.

Stay tuned for more updates as I knock out all the small annoying stuff

This project, I won't be switching between interior and exterior like the Falcon, going to stick through and finish the interior, then move on to the exterior.
