Cloud Shadows not visible diagnosis in progress

2019-6-3-11-21-32-662.jpgHi Steve,

I recently changed Nvidia drivers from 376 to 388. Didn't like 388 so went back to 376. Cloud shadows are gone. I'm not sure if the two things are connected as often tweaking here and there so they might have gone due to something else.

So, steps I've taken so far....

I updated the Fixer to v4.0. Updated Cloud Shadows to V2.0. Rig is FSX Sp2, AS16, Orbx FTX, Gforce 780, 16 Gb Ram.

I worked through the points in the Cloud Shadows FAQ here and have got as far as Debug mode and the flight over Brighton at 3000'.

Here is my screenshot...

Wondered if you could kindly shed some light.

Thanks, Jim

FWIW Clouds shadows works fine for me, but I'm running driver 430.86 on a GTX 960 card - 2Gb, Win 7 64bit ultimate, i7 950 CPU, 24Gb RAM

Thanks for that Mark - always good to hear from you. I'm not sure it's Driver related (I've been mucking around with other settings, the Driver flip was in conjunction with mucking about with Sliders/ Orbx Library Entry Orders, etc. Possible conflicts with P3D v4 installed on or around the same date I lost Cloud Shadows in FSX ((sorry didn't mention that earlier))) All comes down to the same thing - I ain't got no Cloud Shadows.

Thanks for the gentle hint about system specs; Just to ad to the above; i8 Intel47970K O/C to 4.7. O/S is; Win 7 ULT x64

Hoping Steve is going to chime in here.

Er.. thanks Jim. I'm flattered!

Steve is the man and he's usually quite quick in replying.

I will look into it, I need to remind myself what the flags mean as no one has had an issue for as long as I can remember.

Thanks Steve. I'm sorry I can't pin down when the shadows stopped working (when Cliff went solo!) But it was either when I changed Nvidia drivers or perhaps changed something in Nvidia Inspector).

I am rather puzzled by what I see there  can you uninstall/install the libraries report any errors and check the path is correct for your FSX system?  Then run diagnostics from the Dx10 controller.

Okay.

PATH to FSX is correct.

Uninstalled/ Reinstalled Libraries. (Didn't have anything in the box to tick/ un-tick - when it says: "For the best experience in DX10 the fixer needs to make some small changes....,etc"

Diagnostics report:

HINT! TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD is 1024 or less....

and

BE AWARE: HD Shadows is set. Although this is recommended....

The FIXER is working very well in all other respects Steve, it's just the cloud shadows that are missing.

I'm testing by Slewing up to approx 3000 then Slewing OFF and flying.

Can Slewing there present a problem?

Slew mode is not a prob.

If you go to the DX10 Controller menu page and click on the "Addons" button. Do you see the Cloud Shadows control window as shown below?

The most likely cause I think is something interfering with Cloud Shadows.

Can you send to the SteveFsx support email address (at front of manual)

1) your dll.xml file from the directory that contains fsx.cfg

2) a listing of all the dll files in the main fsx directory where fsx.exe is located.

Also are aircraft lights working properly?

Is anything unticked in the debug section accessed from controller top menu.

All done Steve. Files and other info requested winging their way to you as we speak via the support Email address.

Many thanks for looking in to this. It's only because it's such a fantastic and transformative addon that  I would like it working!
