MU2 Prop Drag

Recommended Posts

Hello Mark, Thank You for giving the MU2 some more luv.

I would like to ask if you would consider adding some more prop drag. Particularly on landing. When I checked out in theMarquise last year, I noticed when going into beta range, she would really slow down. I very seldom used max reverse after landing.

Also airborne, when reducing torque, she would slow down fairly rapidly as well.

I looked at the aircraft.cfg and air file, but no luck. Perhaps that adjustment is in a dll?

Looknforward to the new texture updates, and hopefully a revisit to the flight model.

Thank You.

Best,

David

Hi David,

Since you've actually flown a similar type - could you comment on my recent comment on the MU-2 pitch sensitivity - does it have any merit or and I out to lunch ?

I'm very happy to hear the MU-2 is getting a refresh - it's a unique aircraft and very fun to fly... One bit of feedback - can you guys please take a look at the pitch sensitivity in the FDE - as the way it is now - it's an air sickness inducing aircraft - it tends to oscillate very easily and is very twitchy in pitch response... I've read numerous PIREP's on the real aircraft - and this was never mentioned - if it behaved like the model in the RW - it would have been... I know you had a RW owner participate in the development - but if he's not intimately familiar with FS - this quirk may have been overlooked... Greatly appreciate all you guys do - THANKS !

Regards,

Scott

Hello Scott. I will say the Marquise and N models I flew, were a both more sensitive in pitch vs roll. However, the pitch still had a heavier feel to it. You definitely needed to use trim to fly them. I would still say for a sim of the MU2, Mark’ s Mits is pretty word not allowed good. As mentioned, certainly needs more beta range on ground. shouldn’t have to go to max reverse on landings most of the time. Now that Mark is amping up the textures, she’ll be awesome!

Interestingly, when I trained on the Mits, the instructor had me set power with fuel flow vs torque. His reasoning was they can screw with my torque, but they can’t mess with my fuel flows. Surprisingly, it worked quite well.

Tried the same numbers with Mark’s FM, not  close at all. So, flying his Mits with Torque. Looking forward to checking out the update in my new VR headset!

As to pitch, have you tried adjusting a curve or dead-ban on your controllers to help dampen some in pitch axis.

Apologies I rambled a bit, thought it was interesting to mention.

Best,

David

Hi David,

Thanks for your insights - please feel to cover anything you want - RW feedback is critical in this hobby - LOL - I’ll let my pitch issue go as it’s been a misconception I’ve had for years... I’m pretty sure I haven’t crossed paths with anyone who mentioned flying a real Mitsubishi before...

Yeah - I’ve tweaked the FDE a bit myself (novice) - while it dampened the oscillations a bit - I was never 100% happy with it and had hoped a pro could do better... Like everything in the arcane world of FDE development - there were trade offs...

Regards,

Scott
