Win10 Variable Refresh Rate with P3D

Recommended Posts

Didn't know the setting existed but upon inspection the VRR setting does not appear on my PC, although I seem to satisfy all the criteria set by Microsoft.

However, I do not have any problems with enabling G-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel with my Freesync monitor. There are suggestions that enabling the Microsoft VRR setting may enhance the existing G-Sync performance beyond what may already be set by the user, so not sure if you could be losing some graphics performance by not using the VRR setting.

I would be interested to hear from others with particular regard to P3D.

it's ok - Google answered the question. Will connect via DisplayPort and see if it works. Thanks for pointing it out!

VRR is on a slow rollout Worldwide, lookout for update to 1903, Variable Refresh Rate is a setting that enables VRR even in titles that lack native support.

P3D already works with Gsync, this won't add anything.

And yes it is amazing, no need to worry about capping frames or stutters. Just leave it on gsync+unlimited and get a smooth experience with no stutters or tearing

G-Sync will not mitigate stutters caused by the software itself.

Don't you get a ton of flickering when using Gsync? Or did you find a workaround?

Do I need a Gsync monitor (with gsync special chip) for it?

If you are running an Nvidia card on a Gsync (or Freesync) capable monitor, use the Pendulum app to check and see if you have Gsync set up properly in Nvidia Control Panel....

https://www.nvidia.com/coolstuff/demos

Run the app, and if you have Gsync set up properly you should not see any screen tearing with the "Gsync" button on the top left corner of the app ticked. If you do see tearing you either don't have your monitor set up right or you don't have things set up correctly in NVCP, or both.

Nope no flickering. Just worked out of the box for me.

Ofcourse, but most stutters are usually caused by vsync and triple buffering.

Anyone tried P3D g sync or freesync with a Samsung QLED ? Obviously this would be via HDMi and an RTX or Radeon GPU.

Thnx
