I'm at the Expo and I'm impressed with the setup and all the vendors. For me seeing and actually using the HoneyComb Yoke and TQ was on the top of my list and I was happy with the performance. Many of the vendors were using the yoke. I'm sure someone will will do a professional review but I know I'll be picking up a set for sure.

Anyone got links to where I could find the major news & product releases occuring at the Expo?

Thanks

Pity I keep missing these expos, it is always the timing, plus with a finicky, separation anxiety prone female housecat, it is hard to just up and travel away from her, she comes first before my simming habits and even puts me to bed when I ignore her in my simming habits, lol.....  Had the expo been two weeks from now I could have gone since my lawyer confirmed I will be getting a fair accident settlement, but I am saving it in case I take the private jet to Oakland in September for my high school reunion, Phoenix now offers private jet service with business class seating for that flight, flights to Burbank, and the shorter flight to Vegas for just $79 each way.  It is an Embraer 130 so not a bizjet, but still a nice ride, with high windows for good pax window views, like the 170/190 and other Embraers....

Who knows, if they succeed maybe they will offer longer flights, if they hold the airfare down to what is promised.  That is hard to predict though, after all with the Eclipse 500/550 we were supposed to get cheap "Air Taxis" that never came.

By the way, if you want to listen to me flying the Aerobask Xplane11 Eclipse with a glimpse of my groundspeed over the pond, visit the videos forum to see the short video I posted there, with live Gander Center FM and HF ATC complete with Selcal calls from other airliners around 4:00 UTC today...

Thanks for all the kind words, good to be back ... life has settled down a little and my focus is now on my FS company (details to follow in appropriate forum later this month) as I hope to bring products for all to enjoy (both P3D and XP).  Yes OR is Oregon, the land of no sales tax, lots of trees, less traffic, and some great hiking ... closer to Boeing but not Lockheed Martin.

Would love to hear more reports from the folks at the FSExpo event.

Cheers, Rob.

Welcome back Rob. Last I remember your employer was bought out so I'm guessing that created the typical corporate mess that ensues. Keep in touch and good luck on your FS company. I'm in WA part of the year so maybe we can get together some time.

Watched a few interviews and JV indicated a 30% increase in attendance over Las Vegas last year, so very good news to see growth.

Agreed, it is great for growth.  However, it appears there were less surprises, less news, less big announcements, etc compared to last year.  From an outsiders point of view, who wasn't there, is seemed very ho-hum.

The big suprprise came afterwards. Too early to condem or hail it. Even the fact MS announced the new Sim at E3 isn't bad as such. However, the timing would have given a perfect possibility of a joint E3-FSExpo-announcement with attencence of MS in both. This way they could have reached gamers as well as serious simmers and 3rd parties which they will need alike to make this a success.

The fact they didn't rings a few bells in my head indeed.

Kind regards, Michael

I did see a 9000 $ US full motion simulator though. Fits right in your flight sim space. Video and pics in another thread hopefully today.

Thank you.

Apparently, Orbx completely blind sided by the E3 announcement.

Will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

A sky diving harness and some heavy duty bungee cords?  I assume that's without the PC.

Cheers, Rob.

Yep. No PC.

Thank you.

Will be interesting as to how this will impact Orbx sales of TrueEarth, now that people know what's coming.

It makes sense to me. The bigger audience by far was at E3, and so that's where they announced it. If Microsoft had exhibited at FSExpo then it would have raised questions beforehand, e.g. "What are they doing here?" :-). FSExpo just isn't that big in comparison, especially if the target market is more geared towards gamers

It would be premature for people to hold off buying any addons and other sims until this sim comes out as we really don't have a clue when it will be released and we still don't even know in what capacity third-parties will be involved. X-Plane and AF2 are still multi-platform sims that are still growing, and somehow I don't think P3D users with often thousands of dollars purchased in addons aren't going to drop everything just like that (and LM may have something in the works). The sim could turn out to be pure hype, or it could be the second-coming :-). The other three sims aren't going to go away overnight (I mean, people are still actively using FS9!!), and will be around for some time, and hopefully moving forward as well. It's a pretty cool time for flight simmers, as it was only a few years ago we all really had very little choice and it seemed a dead-end.
