And.. apparently it had been mentioned earlier ( ? )

and it looks like PMDG's 777 in the video ?

Eh? You're just linking a P3D video with the usual crappy clickbait titles.

If it's in typical MS fashion it'll be 10 yrs before you could even buy parts to build a computer to run it.

Yes, and look at these never seen before cloud systems:  you probably will nead a Mega Zilla TurboX  with a least 100 TB VRAM - maybe the upcoming AMD Navi will deliver for our sake  ?

Ah yeah, good ol' MS bashing, still en vouge...Just dont forget where we would be without MS and FS...

This thing is huge, and MS isnt going for a quick cashgrab, thats for sure. They own high res satellite imaginery covering the entire world and have enormous processing power available with Azure cloud. Ground textures...autogen...high fidelity weather depiction, real world traffic, it could all be done in the cloud. This could be real next gen my friends!

Now lets see how quick the major addon devs jump on this one, but i'm excited

I have my doubts this will be All that flight simmers have wanted, seems a little late to try to get back into the game. I worry they have bit off more than they can chew and may end up dumping development because of costs. You have to pay these people what they are worth

Wouldn't be surprised if third party developers are entirely locked out the ecosystem or have to pay licensing to MS to have it distributed via their platform. I suppose one upside is hopefully they've binned off all FSX code and are starting afresh, but the reappearance of the Icon A5 makes me doubt that. I wonder if it'll be "always online" with some of the scenery in some way cloud based (pulling from Bing or similar?) and they'll charge a subscription?

I'm actually surprised how positive the response to it is in this thread, I thought we'd all still have a sour taste in our mouths from Flight?

As for a subscription, I bet there will be a monthly fee for the X-Box Game Pass for PC.  I think the presentation said it would be $9.99/mo .

I'm also guessing that the scenery will be cloud based given the reference to Azure AI.  This subscription model may make it a bit more difficult for 3rd party add-ons - can't use their product if you don't pay M$ for the use of Game Pass.  (Then again this may reduce or negate the crazy licensing fees as they could make a constant revenue stream from the subs.

Just my thoughts...

Looks incredible. That's no FSX look. That's photorealistic graphics and has to be 64 bit. It's cloud based with Azure.

This fellow who had worked in advertising/marketing died and, upon
entering heaven, met St. Peter.  St. Peter said, "In the interest
of fairness, we want to give you the option to stay here in heaven,
or to go to hell.  You can look around here for a few minutes, then
go visit hell for a while before you decide.  The catch is that your
decision is final -- no changing your mind."

So, the fellow started walking around heaven;  what he saw, he thought
to be a bit boring.  People were playing horseshoes, bridge, drinking
tea.  It wasn't bad, but it did look kind of slow.  He mentioned this
to St. Peter, and asked for his visit to hell before his decision.

Immediately, he found himself standing in front of two huge doors
imprinted with "HELL".  Expecting the handle to be hot, he reached
gingerly for it.  Surprisingly, the handle was cool to the touch.
Proceeding through the doors, he found a flurry of activity.  People
were standing around eating, drinking, dancing -- in general having
a great time.  The marketing fellow thought that this looked like
much more fun than heaven, so he promptly returned to St. Peter and
told him that he had chosen hell.

Once again, he found himself in front of the huge doors.  Reaching
to open the door, he scorched his hand on the blisteringly hot
handle.  After entering, he was faced with a wall of flame, and he
could hear horrendous screaming and moaning.  He stood there,
incredulous.  The devil walked up and asked if there was some
problem.  "Yes", the fellow replied, "I was just down here ten minutes
ago, and it wasn't hot, and people were partying and having a great
    time!  What happened?"

"Well," the devil replied, "that was a demo!!"

The key thing for me will be addons I have been spoiled with my A2A, PMDG and Majestic planes. I played the MS Flight Sim decades ago and have bought ever since. What they did with FSX and Flight was a slap in the face to Simmers. They need to be timely and consistent with updates to get me interested.

Looks amazing. But let’s wait for the detail. What’s the deal with ‘the cloud’ anyway? Is this a way of delivering graphics that are rendered elsewhere and what - it streams to your PC?
