Not that this has anyting to do with MSFS, I know Google Stadia has been mentioned in this thread.  This shines some light on some of the issues with streaming hidef games.

If my ISP has a usage cap, I have never run into it, although my days of higher usage, making Ortho scenery for Xplane and photo scenery for P3D, have ended.  I did have one problem with my ISP, they doubled my web access costs after my first year with them, a bait and switch tactic to be sure.  Finally when I threatened to leave them, they reduced my cost and put on a life guarantee that my monthly fee would remain the same.  I did not want to lose their service because I only had one outage, and that was brief and a few years' back.  I used to have Cox but was upset when they dropped my website and all their customer websites, they ended their free web hosting service but fortunately, yahoo offers limited free service.

I still remember the days of dial up ISP service, I had to switch to network based service when I was asked to work from home (it was either that or a commute on weekends into the office, something I loathed considering the wear and tear on my car).  With VPN I was able to log into my office desktop and work as if I was in the office, and with Skype I could video conference.  One Christmas I used Skype to have a video call with my in laws who lived in Mexico, a great way to get the family together for the holidays without the expense of flying to see them.  All such high bandwidth use was never touched or bothered by my ISP back then, although I came close a couple of times and had some warnings but that was always at the end of my monthly pay cycle.

In this day and age of work from home, US ISP providers would lose a lot of business users if they enforced caps.  But still some do.  I have Centurylink (Cox now also provides web service to my apartment complex) and I cannot recommend them enough.  When I could not get web service out of my phone jack, Centurylink came and replaced it, saying it had been painted over by the apartment property managers and that is why the old one did not work.   Wheeew, I was nervous that it would not have worked at all...
