Heroes of the British Empire (hint : they were aviators)

OrbX should hopefully release an OpenLC covering Africa this year. Good timing. We will celebrate next year the centennial of the first flight from the Med shores to the Cape of Good Hope.

This is a short account of of this flight. Epic, funny, moving. When men were men :).

I partially reconstructed van Ryneveld and Brand' s journey on Google Earth (some names have changed). That would be :  Derna (Lybia) - Sollum  - Cairo (Egypt) -  Abu Simbel  (approximation of the the city of Kurusku north of Wadi Halfa where they crashed) - Khartoum (Sudan) - Nimule (South Sudan) - Kisumu (Kenya) - Mbala (aka Abercorn - Zambia) - Ndola -  Kabwe (aka Broken Hill) - Livingstone  (Victoria Falls !) - Balawayo (Zimbabwe) - Three days for which I dont have anything - Cape Town.

Any South African simmer around here knowing more ?

I'm a Saffa,(from CPT originally)  but sadly don't know more about the missing leg.  I'm sure someone will fill in the blanks.
