Is this where we're headed?

Recommended Posts

As the years go by and I find my wife needs the latest vacuum cleaner and my browser is old (but still works fine) and I need to get the latest one I keep remembering more and more frequently what my father said when I was a teenager and we couldn't afford a cashmere sweater that was the latest thing in high-school fashion.

"Happiness is being satisfied with what you have."

This morning I flew from  Bella Coola to Opsika in my Quest Kodiak.  The Orbx scenery was marvelous.

Yesterday it was Alesund to Oslo in Norway.  The Orbx scenery was marvelous.

P3Dv4 partnered with Orbx is marvelous enough for me.  I'm satisfied enough with it to let the Joneses pass me up.

Thanks Dad!

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

P3D now  is what I dreamed MSFS would become 15 years ago. Anything more is just icing on the cake for me.

"But MS has to make it worth the cost of keeping the sim moving forward as a commercial "game." Subscription is one way to do that. No idea if that's what they're planning just wild guesses like everyone else here."

As I said before, running the game on Steam or on another system that is like Steam, will give MS all the income stream they need. Due to their getting a royalty on all the DLC posted on Steam.

I don't give a flip if that royalty is 30% or 40%. But I am not going to 'subscribe' to anything. Subscription is financial suicide by a thousand cuts administered perpetually.  It's like paying monthly fees on credit cards that you don't realize is losing yourself tremendous $ in the long range.

Much better to know the total price before purchase, and then chose what you think is reasonable balance between wants and needs.

I waited until P3Dv3 came along in 2015 and bought it.  Two years later I paid again for P3Dv4.  Now Microsoft is getting in the game again with possible monthly payments?  Forget it.  It's time to pull the flightsim developers' hands out of my pocket.  From now on only Orbx new airports for existing regions.  I can afford that.   No True Earth.  No buying anything more that my current system can easily handle.

I might be speculating but knowing MS they will milk this for all it's worth. I'm predicting the following pay model just like Orbx or MegaScenery do with regions, you will have to pay to 'unlock' regions to fly in.

Couldn't agree more. They give you a free region of 🇸🇿 or 🇱🇸  to try it out.
