Filou: All shots show magnificent workmanship...but, frankly, I could not stop staring at the climbing QANTAS images...!

Why is it that these shots look darn real but other xplane users don't have the same looking scenery fidelity?

I do, in the areas where I want it.  The secrets are Flywithlua tweaks for Sky environment and darker cloud shadows, and the ample free, add on scenery out there that can be had with Ortho4XP, or MisterX's libraries/airports, or a number of other scenery sources.  For instance, this line included with a fly with lua script I found Enviro+, had allowed me to give my cloud shadows quite a bit of darkness and depth vs. before.  You have to do some research on Xplane11, go to Xplane.org, there are tons of things you can do with the sim that are unimaginable vs. the off the shelf sim...

set( "sim/private/controls/clouds/cloud_shadow_lighten_ratio", .99)

In my case it is xEnviro 1.10 + xVision + TrueEarth US Washington by ORBX and nothing else.
