REX Environment Force + P3Dv4.5 Pro Plus

Recommended Posts

I recognize not many folks use P3Dv4 Pro Plus.  I still gotta ask... hoping to get an answer somewhere.

I run P3D Pro Plus over 3 PCs, one as Host PC (runs P3D, ASP4) and two Client PCs (runs P3D only to render the outside-the-cockpit views, as directed by the host).  The host does not render any outside views.  Besides acting as the P3D host, it also runs Air Manager for the instrument panel.

Regarding a weather engine, I'm using Active Sky for P3Dv4.  It is on the Host PC.

Regarding the use of 3rd party textures, I have REX SkyForce 3D and REX Texture Direct with Soft Clouds.  Since only the two client PCs render outside views, only they have these texture products.

I would like to use REX Environment Force for texture smoothing (as the dynamic weather inputs arrive at the Host via ASP4) and its dynamic shader features.

Here's my question:  does Environment Force go on the Host PC and it drives changes to the Client PCs via the LAN?  Or... does Environment Force need to go on each Client PC and receive its instructions from ASP4 on the Host PC?  Either way, can I expect the views rendered on both Client PCs to be synchronized?

Thanks much.

Scott

Two things :

- Regarding EF you better ask REX at their forum

- Neither REX not HiFiSim are capable of synchronising 3D clouds over the network. The only weather engine that is capable of doing so is FsGlobalRealWesther

Gerard,

Thanks for the reply.  I posted this question first at the REX EF Forum; no answer/reply yet.

What do you mean when you say "...capable of synchronising 3D clouds over the network"?  As I understand it, Active Sky downloads METARs from HiFi servers, manipulates it per user-defines settings, and provides that data to the Flight Sim at regular, user-defined, intervals.  What the flight sim software does with the data is outside the control of the weather engine.  Do I understand the weather engine's role incorrectly?

After receiving the weather data from the weather engine, the sim renders clouds, rain, etc., based on instructions from REX Environment Force, which smoothes transitions (which includes cloud shapes/sizes, coloring, shader effects, etc.) from weather data changes so that the user no longer experiences sudden, jarring, changes to the outside visuals.  Do I understand Environment Force's role incorrectly?

Thanks again.

Scott

Seeing a 3D cloud moving from display 1 ( pc 1 ) to display 2 ( pc 2 ) etc is what I mean..

Thanks.

How is your system configured to work across multiple PCs?  Wideview?  P3D Pro Plus?  Something else?

I used WidevieW for a couple years without issue.  Then, suddenly, WidevieW told me that there was a problem with my license.  I tried to get support from the WidevieW forum and using the website's "Contact" widget, but received no replies and I was unable to get my sim to work at all.  Any ideas what might have caused that?

Sorry no idea.

Lucky me WV is working fine.

Just today, I sent a message to Luciano using the "Contact" widget on the website. Luciano replied,

"Hi,

Please try deleting completely the follow key from the registry:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sof#8203;tware\Microsoft\LMP364WV

This is done by running Windows registry editor (regedit.exe)
This will force the software to start a new registration procedure from scratch. Please make sure you are logged as system administrator and do not login as different user later when flying.
Thanks, Best Regards,
Luciano. "

I will try this once I return to my sim.

Given this info from Luciano regarding WidevieW, I'll see if I have any better luck with two instances of P3Dv4.5 w/HF on two separate PCs connected together through WidevieW.

I'm guessing you put the FsGlobalRealWeather on the host PC.  How about REX Environment Force and/or SkyForce 3D? If you use them, do you put both on each PC?

Thanks again.

FSGRW is running on the server ( front view ) and has the Networkbridge installed ( IP adress server ). Network mode.

On the Left view cliënt the second Networkbridge ( IP adress client ) is installed.

Thank you.

How many copies of REX Environment Force do you have?  One on each PC?  Or just one on the host?

I do not use EF

Here I use PTA and copy the modified Shaders from server to cliënt.
