FS2004 Pyongyang to Kathmandu via Xian and Lhasa

Hi,

some impressions from a journey Pyongyang - Kathmandu in three legs via Xian and Lhasa.

Before flying, praise the Dictator! (Unfortunarely, the scenery is outdated and somewhat old style. However, it's the only one we have for FS2004.)

... then hurry up.

Turning into final at Xian:

It's quite busy there:

At the position for take off to Lhasa

... and at the final for Lhasa

Luckily, this is only virtual (polluting the high altitude environment)...

Taxiing for the last leg to Katmandu. I really looked forward to cross the Himalaya!

A brief view onto Lhasa city:

... then the mountains come into sight. Even with the not so high resolution of the phototerrain, this is quite impressive. Clouds cover the lower areas:

Safely landed.

I hope you like these, with a venerable plane in a venerable simulator.

Should you ever venture into XPlane territory, you will be quite pleased with the option to create your own photoscenery fairly easily in any quality you want (provided you have enough HD space) 😉

Yes, Harald, I too like your use of the two "venerables"....plane & simulator...🙂...

Many many years ago, I'd spent just one day of my life in Kathmandu...visited only the foot-hills of the Himalayas, but, unfortunately, not close enough to the majestic ranges, but still it remains with me as an unforgettable experience...! Great story, here, of this trip in 3 legs......

I understand. I personally love mountains...as many, I know, here do too...and to think that the foothills of Himalayas often reach the heights of the U.S. Rockies....!

I recall when I'd visited Denver a few years ago, I rented a car and headed to the Rockies...It was winter, but the snowing had stopped (after a foot or so of accumulation)...They had just opened up the scenic vehicle-route up the Rockies to a certain point/height...The Ranger looked at my (little) Toyota RAV4, and remarked that it's not up to the challenge of the Rockies, but, he let me go after cautioning me to stick to only the cleared roads, which instruction I followed exactly...It was an exhilarating experience with deep snow on both sides of the climbing road in the high mountains...

But, anyway, Harald, you do have the (beautiful) Bavarian Alps in Germany. Right? So, there you go...🙂...

That's true. Bavarian Alps are a 550 km ride from me. And I can go further to Switzerland, Austria, Italia... But I do like the Caucasus and the Andes even more.
