Has anyone managed to get them working on P3D v4.5 ? Have installed them (standard install) but cannot see any ship traffic. Had them on previous versions working OK. Feedback appreciated.

They've worked on every version.   Currently still work in P3D 4.5.   Maybe its an addon.xml issue?

Yes, I also have them working in P3D 4.5. I think you must have a local issue.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't install them with an addon.xml  is there a template for this somewhere?

Thanks

Did you remember to turn up the ship traffic to at least 10% in your settings?

Where have you got them installed at the moment?

I just installed them as per instructions on the package, boats to boats folder in simobjects and other files in the scenery/world. Ship's traffic at 25%

Hi,

as example you can use this: ( You have to set your correct path! )
also you can not use any AI traffic from FSX ! so its not working.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="3,3" id="add-on">
  <AddOn.Name>Global_AI_Ship_Traffic</AddOn.Name>
  <AddOn.Description>Global_AI_Ship_Traffic</AddOn.Description>
  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>SimObjects</Category>
    <Path>J:\Global_AI_Ship_Traffic\Simobjects\Animals</Path>
  </AddOn.Component>
  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>SimObjects</Category>
    <Path>J:\Global_AI_Ship_Traffic\Simobjects\Boats</Path>
  </AddOn.Component>
  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>Effects</Category>
    <Path>J:\Global_AI_Ship_Traffic\Effects</Path>
  </AddOn.Component>
  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>Sound</Category>
    <Path>J:\Global_AI_Ship_Traffic\Sound</Path>
  </AddOn.Component>
  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>Scenery</Category>
    <Path>J:\Global_AI_Ship_Traffic\scenery\world</Path>
    <Name>Global_AI_Ship_Scenery</Name>
    <Layer>176</Layer>
  </AddOn.Component>
</SimBase.Document>

...in Prepar3D no problem at all :biggrin:.

And be aware, that you cannot grab the most up to date ships package from Henrik Nielsen on avsim library anymore !!!

But you can get it on  flightsimnorway.com  for free as well.  It's now called " Global AI Ship Traffic v2 - from September 21th 2019.

Just came across this, never heard of it before. Pretty cool package! However, is there a way to remove default ships so only those in this package show up?

Go to your Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Scenery\World\scenery folder, find the files:

trafficBoats.bgl
trafficCarriers.bgl

Rename them to .OFF

As you have it now working with the add-on.xml, you might not be interested anymore, but the reason the classic installation did not work is simple: you have to tell your simulator where your ships are and as such, you have to specify the folder of the ships in your simobjects.cfg (or directly inside the prepar3d.cfg).

Hello Chris,

I believe the classic installation works fine. You don't have to tell where the ships are because you just add them to an existing folder. Same for the scenery, effects and sound files. You don't have to create and declare a new folder.
