Fly Tampa's KTPA being read as ZTPA?

Nico,

I'm having a problem with PSXseecontraffic reading KTPA as ZTPA, and not parking any aircraft. Log included in the spoiler.

I'm sure I've positioned at TPA before and not seen this problem...could be mistaken, but I don't remember this happening before.

I have seen this on another Flytampa airport CYUL, If I start at a general aviation spot, it show error no file at ZYUL. I guess you must start the sim closer to the main airport reference point.

Have a look in the Flytampa\Tampa\scenery folder

If there is a ZTAMPA bgl file, rename it to bgl.off

Vidar, I started at the terminal...I think.

Bert,  ZTPA_ADEX_FLYTAMPA.BGL is the taxiway "J" bridge, and if it's disabled you lose the bridge elevation, so the bridge is then flattened into the roadway that should run underneath.

In any case, I've discovered a fix that doesn't affect the airport integrity:

PSXseecontraffic uses airport layout .xml files generated by an ancillary program, ParkPosGenerator, to know airport parking positions...I simply deleted "ZTPA.xml". Interestingly the problem only occurs if starting at a position like runway 1L, or approaching from a direction such that the taxiway bridge is between your aircraft and the center point of the airport...meaning that PSXseecontraffic reads ZTPA.xml as the airport, and not KTPA.xml. If you start from, or approach from a direction in which the airport center is between your aircraft and the taxiway bridge, PSXseecontraffic reads KTPA instead.

Vidar, I also found ZBOS.xml (KBOS-Boston), and ZABA.xml (SABA) in the ParkPosGenerator "Airports" folder, and deleted them. You'll most certainly find ZYUL.xml (CYUL) which you can delete.

I don't know if there's a way to get ParkPosGenerator to exclude specific files, but if not, then anytime you run ParkPosGenerator, one would have to delete those xml's again.

Hi guys,

The Zxxx.xml file for a FlyTampa airport caused the problem indeed.

New ParkPosGenerator version 9.9 no longer generates (wrong) FlyTampa’s files ZTPA.xml, ZYUL.xml, ZBOS.xml and ZABA.xml. Note that it already did that for ZHAM.xml.

I just ran PPG 9.9 and it created ZTPA (Tampa). PPG did not create ZBOS, ZABA, or ZYUL.
