July 3, 20196 yr Texture resolution and screen resolution are NOT linked. You can see an improvement with 4K textures on a 1080p screen just fine. TBH HD/4K texture is a meaningless term too, because it depends entirely on how that 4K is mapped as to what the pixel density actually is (e.g. spreading 4K(4096) over a 250m object will look worse than a normal 1024 texture spread over a 25m object), although if you are coming from 1024 textures to 4K you will get 4x the original detail/sharpness.
