February 19, 200620 yr Hi guys just a small request how about more variation to the runway markings and lighting for non American airports - there are only 3 or 4 main styles of runway markings in the world (Touch Down Zone Markings etc) so why no add these please. I hate seeing all my favourite UK airports with american style lettering, lighting and touch down zone markings.A good shot of a standard UK runway.http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0621799/L/ UK style lightinghttp://www.airliners.net/open.file/0724612/L/ Thanks
February 19, 200620 yr Well you are right, but the lighting in that pic is just a PAL-2 AFAIK, which is fully supported by FS, or am I wrong concerning that...? I am at least 150% sure they have been around in FS98... :-lolI'd actually like to see the skid marks fixed rather than local styles of markings (how many would that be). Skid marks currently start right beyond the physical threshold of any given runway, not beyond displaced thresholds for example... Looks like a lot of pilots (musta been the AI ones exclusively of course...) had never quite hit the touchdown zone... :-smooch

February 22, 200620 yr Seriously it would have been nice to check out the grass. Its such a big secret?
February 22, 200620 yr >Something like this maybe? (rest of image blurred for your>protection.)Is it something like "I could show you the grass, but then I'd have to kill you" thingy? :-lol Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
February 22, 200620 yr That is similar to the markings used in the UK but there is only one set of touch down zone markings either side of the aiming point. (Source: UK AIP GEN 1 Annex 14 5.2.5.5) The UK markings differ from the ICAO standard, but I don't know what the ICAO standard is. Other countries may also have their own standards or use ICAO, so you may be opening up a can of worms here - "my country's runways aren't correctly modelled" :( Gerry Howard
February 22, 200620 yr >Seriously it would have been nice to check out the grass. Its>such a big secret? It was for your safety...Your mind would have been so blown away by the quality of each and every blade of grass being modeled that you would have to be committed. :-)J- Jeff Bea I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.
February 22, 200620 yr "so you may be opening up a can of worms here - "my country's runways aren't correctly modelled"I disagree, just at least the majority of mainstream runway markings (and there isn't that many types) are modelled in some way I think most people will be happy. But on the other hand if they do only choose to model a few more types, it's still an improvement.
February 23, 200620 yr LOL!Maybe when it ships we will be too giddy to remember having to wait ;)-Jeremy Burchhttp://home.earthlink.net/~dawgfighter/sit...es/swvasig1.gifSWVA4806 http://www.virtualswa.com/home.phpThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!BOAC: Heathrow Centre, British Airways Speedbird Flight 723HC: British Airways Speedbird Flight 723, Heathrow Centre, go aheadBOAC: Heathrow Centre, British Airways Speedbird Flight 723 has a message for youHC: British Airways Speedbird Flight 723, Heathrow Centre is ready to copy messageBOAC: Heathrow Centre, British Airways Speedbird Flight 723, message is as follows: Mayday, Mayday, Mayday ....
