July 16, 20196 yr While I have a yoke and joystick, throttle quadrant, rudder pedals and a MCP, I don't have an overhead panel, switches on the FO side, Captain or FO instruments, FMC / MCDU, motorised throttle levers nor displays for a 180 degree FOV. Some simmers would therefore consider my setup to be 'lite'. Get the peripherals that your budget allows for and what will help you increase the immersion. Everything else after a yoke or a joystick is nice to have, not essential. While I personally would recommend rudder pedals, you can happily continue to sim without them. July 16, 20196 yr Commercial Member If you want to learn about flying or get close to the flying experience you need to have pedals - and if you ever intend to fly something you will have the correct “muscle memory” and vastly reduce incorrect control inputs. Even more so for helicopters. An experienced flight instructor once estimated a trainee pilot as having at least 10 previous lessons based on handling of the aircraft. The trainee had only ever flown hus home simulator. no need for anything expensive, my first pedals were the cheapest joystick I could find tied to the end of a stick with a nail though the middle.
