Starting gate idea

Recommended Posts

I have an idea that I haven't seen mentioned..In the 'Create Flight' screen, I'd like to have a map view of the airport I pick so I can just click on a location and say 'That's the gate/ramp I want my aircraft to be parked'. At the moment, selecting a start position from a list of gate/ramp numbers, usually involves guesswork and a bit of slewing..;-)I wonder if this feature would be simple enough to add utilising the AFCAD file.ThanksSteve

I agree this would be a helpful feature and I'd love to see it implemented if possible. Excellent suggestion, Steve!DougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB) | 2GB DDR SDRAM | 74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) | 120GB SATA (D: ) | 256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT (Catalyst 5.13) | Audigy 2 ZS Sound | MS Force Feedback 2 | WindowsXP Pro (SP2) | DirectX 9.0c

I second your idea and would like to see that done on the arrival airport as well. Not so much as an actual spot but it would be nice if the atc would reconize the airline/parking code like how it does for AI planes and direct you to the proper area that you set in the config file.

Talking about setup screens, it would be also good to see on the 'Select Aircraft' screen a simple drop down for the panel state (ie. so its not necessary to load the Cessna each time and go through shutting down the engine and loading the real plane)...

That will accomplish precisely what you want without having to hope for something "new..." ;)

Hey there are sometimes when I prefer to start cold and dark and other times when I couldn't be bothered. Does that make sense?

Yup, perfectly...Just create 2 seperate situation/flight (can't remember which) files for each example and then create a shortcut to your desktop for each... Works for me.If on the other hand you don't want a cluttered desktop like mine :-) , then create a shortcut to the situation/flight file folder. For my around the world flights, I save the end of one flight to the same situation/flight file each time so when I want to do the next leg, I just click on the "Around the world" situation/flight file shortcut on my desktop and I an immediately at the location where I last left the aircraft.Cheers,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australia
