August 7, 20196 yr Something is missing John The ELT[emergency locator transmitter] in the plane should have warned authorities. Good thing he had a handheld. Thanks for the video John.
August 7, 20196 yr That was my thought too, Paul. Where was the ELT, or why didn't it function? He's a very lucky man at any rate. I'm glad he made it out without any serious injuries. Thank you. August 7, 20196 yr Wasn't the yellow mobile phone looking object the ELT? He said he was trying to get his SOS to work.. ? Is it mandatory in the US and Canada for ALL GA aircraft to carry an ELT when flying? Thanks. August 8, 20196 yr Just checked this story again. He used a Garmin gps for his distress call. An ELT doesn't look like that. It is mounted in the tail section of the plane.Looks somewhat like an aircraft blackbox. It activates when the plane hits the ground. I am assuming the same when it hits water. It is mandatory in the USA, and Canada HighBypass. Edited August 8, 20196 yr by Paul Deluca
August 8, 20196 yr I've seen that video pop in on my YouTube feed from his channel. Very impressive rescue. In the comments some of that SAR Techs reached out to him after so it was a great outcome all around. Same video from his channel but the comments from the SAR Techs are cool: Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
