MD530 Pilot twistgrip

Recommended Posts

I have done  my first flight...very pleasant!

Question: is it normal that I have to mantain the pilot twistgrip in the FULL open position since the engine start for all over the flight, if I decrease it also of a bit...the engine shut down?!

I thought I could set it to idle on the ground before take off...and also to use it in combination with the collective during take off and cruise.

don't max out the throttle... you will likely kill the engine.

Try running it lower.  That might help.

Thank you very much for your feedback!
But the question was obviously misunderstood:

Unfortunately the throttle must be set to max out - otherwise the engine will die !?
The real question is: why can't I turn down the throttle a little - is that so wanted ?

It's collective that you don't want to max out. Not the throttle. Throttle needs to be at 100% in order to sustain rotor RPM
